Penn State coach suspended.

Minor...unless thats your son...
Minor...if that is public game behavior, imagine how a bad practice goes.

I figured he would be put on leave, investigation of his behavior, then a decision to keep or release him.

Both parties will probably tell you it's all good, no big deal.

Still you can't aggressively touch a kid out of anger that you're coaching.

I'm not sure drill sargents are allowed to do that.

So say your apologies, take your one game time out and move on.

It’s interesting....if this happened on the PSU football team, nothing.

It’s basketball and so those guys get the brunt of the oversight because they are insignificant in the eyes of the community.

Hell.....there were Penn State coaches touching kids in worse ways before.

How about PSU’s athletic department taking about this behavior not meeting the “values” PSU expects. Given the athletic department’s history that’s pretty rich. How about just saying it was uncalled for and skipping the pompous bs.

This must be sarcasm. You can’t possibly be this stupid.

Wow. We are raising a generation of wimps. I had coaches much more agressive than that, with zero reaction from anyone. I know the history at Penn State had much to do with the over-reaction to this minor incident. That said, Chambers is likely on the hot seat at Penn State.

Dont know why disapproval of a coach shoving a college KID would be viewed as sarcasm.
I’m not in favor of school paddling in the classroom either...

What I saw in that video barely even qualifies as a shove. It just looked like a coach getting on a player’s ass. Is that going to be verboten now because of people like you?

That's absurd. Fernando shoved Jalen Smith harder than that when he scored.... and that was for saying "yeah! Let's go!"

Absolute nonsense that he's suspended for that.

Maybe let a player sit out if they get a blister too?

Absolutely pathetic they would suspend him for a game for getting the kids attention

He didn’t hit him
He didn’t choke him
He didn’t spit and curse in his face
He dint head but him

Coaches can’t even coach....I would had to coach always looking over my shoulder like that.

Complete and utter Bullshit. More of the same from the PC crowd.
Totally agree. Over-reaction PC B.S. that wasnt even a shove it was more of a finger point to get a player's attention. What a load of crap. After sicko Sandusky the school must be petrified of any coach interaction even if it's constructive. Don't coach at Penn State.

I was two rows behind the IU bench at the United Center when Bob Knight shoved Ron Felling out of the way so he could get in Charlie Miller's face and shove him. That one didn't even make the local news (let alone national). Can't imagine if that happened today.

You're correct. Thus, times have changed. My coach was supportive, Christian, gentle, and tough as nails. No trophies for 2nd place back then.[/QUOT

I wasn't there but I remember it. Knight did stuff like that all the time.

And people like you are why kids behave like they do and can not be reprimanded in school. SAD
What is amazing today is if a school disciplines a kid the parents side with the kid. My parents weren't like that. If I got in trouble at school I got it when I got home. I only had one spanking with the, "Board of Correction" while in grade school. I was throwing a snow ball at another student, missed him, and hit the principal in the chest. I happened to know that my principal used to run with my Dad's brother so I actually name dropped my uncle in hopes it would get me off the hook. Did not work. lol

I agree it was not a major deal. Though coaches have to know they cannot do something like that in today's world. Chambers has to be feeling the heat over his terrible coaching record. To me it is incredible he has lasted as long as he has.

USMC 1967 Parris Island - Drill sargents kicked our a$$ big time. Times have changed.

IF...... I had a son who managed to obtain a division one scholarship on athletics, I wouldn't have had an issue with this specific incident. And I don't believe teachers should put their hands on students in the class room. This is sports and a very competitive level.

Does no one else see the irony of this given the school?

I had the same reaction. Just act without thumping your hypocritical chest.

I thought the punishment was appropriate and reasonable. I’m glad Penn State didn’t go overboard and try to fire him or go through some long investigation over it. Chambers was in the wrong and he should (did) apologize and accept his 1 game suspension.

What i saw on video, he did nothing wrong, and was punished because today we must not invade another's space, and in the heat of competitive sports as a coach he must not get emotional and touch someone. AND in the context that he is coaching at Penn State where the sicko Sandusky was allowed to coach, likely makes zero tolerance for touching anyone, at any time. I hate how far this has gone in 2019. Utter nonsense in my eyes.

The irony is sickening. Year after year Penn State has gone forward with their football program unpunished for the severity of what transpired. Chambers didn't do jack sh**.

If Penn State ever wanted to be anything other than a bunch of p*******
They would put a death penalty on the football program like it deserved. I've never heard of a more cowardly culture than what goes on at Penn State. If I was Chambers I'd go elsewhere while I still can.

Wondering if any of those administrative wimps has ever tried to play post defense against a 230lb guy.

i totally agree. didn't look like much to me but i guess i'd take being overly sensitive to it rather than the way humans were for like 100,000 years. learning that pushing and shoving really doesn't help anyone learning anything seems like a small price to pay.

if i ever walk into a church i am certain to turn into a pillow of salt. you know, like in the bible story about the kingdoms of sodomy and gonorrhea
No, if you came God would say, "welcome my lad, what took you so long?" At the end of Revelation it says, "whosoever will may come". God beckons and does not reject those who come to Him.
