Painter making 3 stars look like 5 stars Lil Arch making 5 stars look like 3 stars

How in the hell does a big ten team get outnumbered in the stands 5:1 by an SEC football school?

Oh, that's right, they can't fill a section in Indy.

I’ll just enjoy the win and let you worry about how many people were at the inauguration. It was a great win from a team that graduated 4 good starters from the year before.

Yes they almost blew it but they dominated 35 of the 45 minutes of what was a GREAT BASKETBALL GAME to watch and enjoy.

Isn’t IU on their third coach and, so far, none of them have gotten them to the Elite 8 in the last 15 years?
IU fires coaches like Painter: fact. Painter is 1 for 15, good for you. Mike Davis still has made it further in the NCAA's than the guy your court is named after or anybody else in PU history.

I have generally considered you a reasonable poster and didn't expect to see you here with the rest of the rabble.

Hey it's hard for me to say this but congrats. That was a hell of a game by you guys.

You had elephant balls tonight. The fact that you gave up an 18 point lead in around six minutes and still sacked up to get the win was really impressive.

And the lead wasn't from you choking... Tennessee just went nuclear.

What Cline did tonight reminded a lot of us old farts what Alford looked like on his best day.

Please don't compare Cline with Alford. Steve was a good kid with good parents.

A few years ago. Swanigan. About the same time you guys last made the tourney. Congrats on your recruiting. Seems to be paying off.
Wow, Glenn Robinson and a legacy recruit 25 years later: impressive! Is that the only one Matt has ever landed? I'm pretty sure it is.

Looks like Painter finally got a hit after 15 at bats: that's precious! Good for him!

Honestly? Painter has played IU Very well and is a whisker away from 3 straight big Ten titles. He wins the right way and recruits good dudes. I really don’t get the hate for Matt Painter, other than that he’s at our rival. He’s a hell of a coach who is learning as he goes. Really wish he’d have headed to Mizzou years ago.

You write fiction

Wrong. Painter was associate head coach in 04/05 and was hired with the guarantee he would be head coach in 05/06. He was the heir apparent, and as such the program was his regardless @ that point.

How long have we been waiting?

2 years now with Archie Miller as head coach. How long we have been waiting prior to his arrival has no bearing on giving that coach the time to build his program, nor should it.
You argue like a woman. If facts don’t support your premise just go off on a tangent.

Why are we so patient with mediocrity?
There’s a new sheriff in the state. You watch, Indiana h.s. studs are no longer IU locks. Purdue’s the new hottie. Just look at the state of the respective programs. Painter’s gonna get better and better talent and, well, watch out. He’s a really really good coach.

Man, all of you wannabes are slithering over. I don't think IU's dominance with in state talent is in any danger. But dream on.

The facts I posted, albeit in a sarcastic manner, are pertinent and relevant to both the title of the thread and the conversation that spawned from it. You on the other hand, DO go off on a tangent (see above) when the facts I presented don't jibe with your opinion and do it in a ad hominem fashion.

We can discuss this later after you have calmed down...

Why am I not surprised to see you stoop so low as to criticize a student athlete and his family...all because the iu program is a straight up dumpster fire...and has been for the better part of 3 decades.
Disappointed that none of the rational iu posters on here (yes there are a few) attempt to reign you in. They probably have you on block as they've been subjected to your Purdue obsessed, insane rants for years now.
I hope you're seeking professional help. God speed.

Yeah! Painter has only had 15 seasons! Stupid Archie has already had 2 seasons!!! I mean, never mind Purdue went 7-21 and 9-19 (3 conference wins in each of those). Why should we put up with such mediocrity when top programs like Purdue would never....ummm never....errr.....never mind.

Using Purdue as an example of how we should deal with our coaching situation is rather, well, stupid considering their patience with Matt Painter after a shitty start to both his career @ Purdue and this season (7-5).

And by the way, Purdue has no 3 star playing like a 5 and IU has no 5 star playing like a 3.
Excellent post. As many of the "youngsters" would say, "Time to chill out!" The fire Archie, hire Brad Stevens or maybe the ghost of Johnny Wooden, has become increasing old.

Well they have a post game, a weird point game and then a bunch of shooters. All three compliment each other.

Doesn't matter what the rankings are...if your wings can't hit the three you're already dead.

Purdue is weird because Eastern (who is the size of a wing) can't shoot for shit but can distribute while Edwards (who is the size of a point) is a hella scoring guard/shooting guard.

We have four of our main guys (of all rankings) that can't shoot for shit and can only score in the lane.

That means we're already dead. Just pack the paint because other than Green no one can shoot.

Did you see the amount of bombs Purdue hit? From Cline to Edwards to Wheeler to Eifert.

That opens the lane for Harmns and Williams.

It's pretty simple, it's all about lineup construction.

Roster construction can make a five star a three.
And players buying in to their roles and sacrificing what they want to do for what the team needs.

They could all be jealous that Edwards takes too many shots. Or Eastern could decide he wants to jump over people and try to dunk everything. Or Williams could decide he doesn't like to play five because he has no pro future there.... but they didn't .. they accepted their roles and became something greater than the individual parts.

Great job by Painter and staff ..

This is dead on. Players on Purdue and IU both had the players and the chances to become good teams. We know which one took advantage of their opportunity.

Just a question: as a good kid with good parents was Alford taught to try to cover up for sexual assaults by his players like he did at Iowa? He tried; he just wasn't successful.

You are a piece of work.
I know of some people who grew up with Alford and they said he is a jerk.

Tennessee had more fans there but not. U much. I was at the game and it was very loud for both crowds

The epic broilee fans howl complaining about every call was very evident. broilees either had a lot of fans there, or Chris Kramer's mom came down for the game.

Why do idiots believe a coach can come in and win 30 games in year two. That's basically the marker for a great team anymore. Everyone bitching on this board is fully expecting the impossible.
See Roy Williams, Calipari, Chris Beard, etc.

No, it was more like 5:1 in favor of Tennessee fans. That was a pathetic showing by PU fans. The game was basically in Indiana.
I was in Louisville Purdue had more fans then any team . There were several IU fans there and many of the locals were pulling against the school that “stole” thier football coach.

You nailed it. From the IU perspective, this is unfortunately true. And regarding Purdue, with the young guys they have, I expect they will be very good next season too. Wheeler might be a star, Williams too. Painter has really learned how to construct a roster.

If you want a coach that makes it to the Elite 8 once every 15 years, go get Crean and bring him back. Crean could actually recruit, too!

Except we have one made elite 8 since 1994 so we really should keep our traps shut bashing purdure. We have nothing back it up with. That is one elite 8 in 25 years. We are a joke of a program right now.
