Oz bans social media for kids

What do you guys think? Common sense or Communist?

Damn. Saw Oz and thought Dr Oz going to push. Aussies. I love it. I don’t know how they enforce it. Here I think the sign up is just good faith and kids lie

They have a year to figure out implementation.

Would this have made a positive difference with your daughter?

It would. She’s 14. Anything to get her away from her phone. But honestly it’s so much more than just social media. If her crew isn’t chatting on Snapchat they are on texts. She has at least six chat groups of friends that are always popping. Tik tok she’s on a lot. Never Facebook. Rarely instagram. But these kids are wedded to their phones. She watches tv on it. Plays games on it. Checks her homework on it. Communicates with teachers on it. Social media is only a piece of it.

And what example am I setting. I’m on it all the time. My customers msg me on it. My factory I keep up with at all hours by way of whatsappp. Our office is largely just for a change of scenery. I have half dozen text groups too that are always popping

Sounds exhausting. I’m just sitting on the screened-in back porch, the 9th fairway is blindingly green, nice breeze, 66 degrees. McCoy Tyner on the stereo. And a bourbon and a good book. Just waiting for dinner and then joint desserts and libations with several other families. Occasionally check out a few things here and on X. But I would go crazy with all those other things popping all the time.

Any mountains nearby?

Yes your setup is far superior

I believe vouchers for my child’s subscriptions is the way to go. Parents’ rights.
