I saw that the Maryland women beat UConn today for the first time ever, 85-78. UConn has five key players out with injuries with former national player of the year Paige Bueckers out for the year, leading scorer Azzi Fudd out with a knee injury, and three other key players out with various injuries. Another player injured a foot in their last game but played today although they said she was clearly hampered by the injury. UConn is probably better suited than most teams to sustain a couple of injuries with all of the top players they get, but this many has clearly hurt them. No one is going to shed a tear for UConn since they have dominated the women's scene for what seems like forever, although South Carolina has taken over their spot for the last couple of years, and Baylor in previous years. UConn recruited Indiana's Miss Basketball the previous season and they would have had the front-runner for Miss Basketball this year in Noblesville's Ashlynn Shade if she hadn't transferred to La Lumiere.
