Ohio State offensive lineman returns home to Indiana, will transfer to IU football
It's an in-state pickup of sorts for the Hoosiers as Zen Michalski was a four-star prospect out of Floyd Central when he committed to Ohio State.

He was put in the game vs Oregon after Josh Simmons tore his ACL and was abused for a quarter then settled in and was fine the second half then he got injured the next game and didn't play the rest of the year.
I got the impression that he just had to get used to the speed and intensity, but once he did, he was good to go.
Zen actually played decent after Simmons injury but struggled with run blocking in that game. He started against Nebraska and was a complete mess and was the main reason for their struggle vs Nebraska. He was hurt in the 4th quarter in that game and the next game vs Penn St they kicked Jackson from guard to LT. I think it was more of a confidence thing or lack there of for him. He obviously has talent or he wouldn’t have even been on the 2 deep to begin with.
He needs Derek Owings and Bob Bostad.
Is this the kid that Ryan Day told that even though he committed to Ohsht, he would never be more than a 2nd-3rd string player as long as he was a Suckeye!? I think it was in an interview a couple years ago. Day is such a pos!
Doubt he would say that about any player. OSU doesn't give charity, commit-able offers to players they don't think can play there.
That's because OSU kept trying to run zone schemes and asking him to run out and block players in the flat. They were asking too much from the whole OL and started playing better after switching to pin and pulls and gap schemes.
Well we got a big ugly, and I'm assuming he has good footwork since he came from such a solid program. Now let's build a solid OL on this.
Negatives: He didn't perform well in limited starting minutes. The Ohio State fanbase chastised his play often.
Positives: He has tremendous size, was obviously highly rated out of high school, and has Bob Bostad to learn from. Bostad >>> Frye, FWIW.
I'm hoping he wasn't too expensive, but I do think with Bostad's mentoring, he can maybe parallel Wedig's efforts?? I guess that would be a best case scenario.
Edit: I just watched highlights from the Ohio State and Nebraska game where Michalski played LT the whole game. He had a few bad plays in pass pro BUT he also had some very good plays throughout that highlight tape. Give him reps with the 1st string under Bostad and we're cooking.
