If you’re referring to McCollum, I suspect the outside world would reaction would be a combination of lauding the hire…and a fair bit of Uh ohs, that dude is gonna have IUs resources at his disposal??
Yeah, these last three wins have the dumb IU fans drinkin the kool aid. This is what I was worried about a month ago when I said those type fans were so happy to see IU end the conference season the way they did last year, would want another year of this. They would get all excited and live in the moment and celebrate limping into Dayton.
This has to end, and thankfully it is. IU needs to get back to being serious again and hopefully that begins when the new coach is hired.
If Dolson allows that to happen, He will lose all credibility with everyone - Potential Coaching Candidates, Fan Base, and Players. It will look like Someone overrode his decisions and took away his authority, or that some of the Deep Pocket Donors got to Him and took over. Who wants to negotiate or deal with Someone whose Word is questionable.
In 3 weeks Woodson will be hanging out at his man cave drinking wine and smoking cigars , while telling his cronies how great he could’ve been if he had one more year.
Woodson has been dead man walking since we lost by 30 to Louisville with a new coaching staff and basically entirely new roster. It undercut both Woodson excuses at once- “need better guard play man, lot of new pieces need time to jell”. The Bahamas were huge to our non conference. The Woodson supporters tried to rally when we beat some Q-4 types but then Iowa and Illinois, and yes the die is cast not to be un cast. Woodson gone when this season wraps- period.
But making $1MM a year for nothing has its upsides while reminiscing how sweet it was to show Matta and Fife who was boss.
Woodson was let go due to his 4 years body of work. A 3 week fun run won’t and shouldn’t change that.
Yep, if someone overrules him and gives Woodson more time, then Dolson has no choice but to resign or lose all credibility and self respect.
He did the same thing last year and then lost to nebraska by 30 in the btt. My guess is history will repeat itself.
