Ok, I’m gonna need someone to talk me down off the ledge…

I’m hearing that rumors about consideration being given to reevaluating CMW’s retirement and bringing him back next year have “legs”. Surely, this is complete and utter bullshit, right? Obviously, it goes without saying that this would be devastating for the fanbase, recruiting, and just the program in general. Can someone out there truly in the know give me some reassurance here? For my sanity?

Nobody here is in the know.

In the famous words of Surfboard Fred:

“Those who know, don’t talk. Those who talk, don’t know.”

Everytime someone starts this rumor again, gradman and BCRB and smitty blow a load in their pants over how inept we'd look if that actually happened. They've got 17 posts about CuLTurE! and incompetant admins! And lAZy CoACheS! Just waiting to go.

Did Woodson magically learn how to manage a college program 2 weeks ago? If not, he's gone. If so, he should still be gone.

If he wants to stay around the program, I'm sure they can find him an advisory role.

It makes no sense to re-evaluate him. And that's coming from me, who has a pretty strong preference for coach retention. I thought they handled Crean correctly, and I would have given Archie one more year. I wouldn't have announced Woodsons retirement mid-season, and I would have probably given him another year if he gets in this year.

But even I say that once you announce he's retiring, that's it man. The hump shall not be gotten over. Woodson shouldn't have waited until he had nothing left to lose before he started coaching like he gives a shit.

Go ahead and jump - you owe it to yourself. 👍

IU is on the bubble with one of the better rosters in a weak B1G. Besides, the team's only truly "good" wins are at OSU, at MSU, and Purdue. A cute little winning streak won't change anything. He gone ... thank f***ing god.

Because they beat PSu and Washington? Lol

We’ve be so inept for so long, what our administration deserves is for Woodson to make the final four, then hire a D2 coach, while the outside world burns us to death but we celebrate. !?!?!?!

I think your Sundowner syndrome is kicking in a bit earlier than normal today.

I actually never once said we’d look inept. Why?
Because, I knew as soon as this was announced, it was a done deal. Never entertained the thought that they might reverse course. That’s exactly why I laugh at all the hand-wringing going on about this nonsense he might come back.
Dolson is not stupid. He doesn’t make rash decisions based on the fact we are playing better at the moment. He looked at the body of work and knew right then and there that the whole thing was not good enough.
I never even considered the notion he would be reconsidered. That is just fan talk and media making shit up.

It's 1/2 true. The freshman in Rollins House in Wright Quad have pooled their $ to hire Woodson as their Intramural Coach for the 2025-2026 season. They've got a center who played tight end at Ft. Wayne Snyder who they think is the HYPER version of TJD. They also have a guard transferring in from Earlham who can shoot the 3. With Woody as coach, the sky's the limit.

Seriously though, the rumors are 100% false. Woody is done, nothing that happens in the next 3 weeks will change it. Step off the ledge and have a good night's sleep.

I suspect this isn’t even a possibility if we win the Natty.

But I could put up with another year or two of Woody coaching if it came because we made the Final Four, let alone won a natty.
This sh!t is embarrassing.

Of course you’re hearing rumors. Weeks to kill and no credible info to be found (yes, including this one you heard).

People are bored. Some people are a$$holes and start stupid sh!t rumors because somebody will believe it.

And North, come on man…

As I said in another topic, it makes zero sense for them to have announced Woodson's resignation mid-season if there was any chance he could be re-evaluated based on the remainder of the season. That's just introducing a lot of drama into the season for no benefit.

In fact it does make it seem more believable that Dolson has had his guy identified and at least handshake-committed since that announcement, though that might not be true.

For the sake of expediency for the remainder of the discussion, I’ve highlighted the key word in your post.
