Trump's post-election conduct is indefensible, and no one (not even editorial boards of conservative publications like the two mentioned in your article) is seriously trying to defend him anymore. The only "defense" these days is an irrelevant "whatabout" or false equivalence.

He's been a thief, a conman and a crook his entire adult life. It's amazing he's gotten away with his shit for as long as he has. The fact that he's almost always the richest person in the room has certainly helped. He's also benefited from the fact that his misconduct is often in plain sight. That's not an approach typically adopted by crooks.

It's looking more and more, though, like the chickens are finally coming home to roost.

I am agnostic on Trump. Did some good, did some bad. Think he was better than the alternatives both times he ran.

Him not running in 2024 is ultimately good for my goals then. If he is convinced to ride off into the sunset and we get more effective leadership, then all for the better.

Right now he is looking like he might. But his polling has been slowly slipping over the course of the year.

Right now, DeSantis can beat him IMO if it is a one on one fight. I think all the right leaning people that prefer someone other than Trump need to coalesce behind one candidate. People like Pence who have zero chance of winning the nomination need to sit this out.

Trump will be 78 in 2024. That is enough in itself for me to say there needs to be another man or woman picked. Throw everything else out from a political standpoint, that job is too much for an octogenarian.

Why would you think he doesn't? He doesn't display the selfish and self-absorbed traits that Trump does. He's weak and ineffective as a President, but I have no reason to doubt that he cares about the country. Of course, much of what he wants to do, I disagree with, but that doesn't make him the selfish and self-absorbed narcissist that Trump clearly is. I've often said that Democrats have the country's interests in mind for the most part, it's just that their policies aren't always in the best interests of the country. I think the same about Republicans. Democrats would also disagree that their policies are always in the best interests of the country too. I'd agree on some of what Trump did as well.
