Since Mark is defending you and you're refusing to answer my question, I'll draw my own conclusions.
I'm sicker than most, so I got what Matt was doing. Your and Aloha's confusion is understandable.
Turkey, salad, gravy, mashed taters, hot rolls and pumpkin pie with whipped cream and hours of football on Thanksgiving.

No way the Reds win at least 90 games. They need to be able to hit the ball and catch the ball. Francona won’t be able to work any magic until Castellini is willing to shell out for both.
Really finding it difficult to take your analysis seriously at this point.
I think they’ll get serious next year. You don’t hire Francona if that isn’t the plan. They have some very good young talent and won 80 two years ago. They need the young talent to stay healthy and add two or three strong veterans and they’ll have a winning season. I sure hope so.

I think there would be meaningful blowback if there were a decision to commute, especially considering that Trump rejects accountability and is unlikely to simply recede from the scene (as Nixon basically did). A decision to commute also holds the potential to undermine the government's ability and credibility to uphold the law. Even where the government is flawed, our system relies on an aspirational pursuit of sound governance. Rejection of governance outright is on the table and supporters of the system we have will want to move forward on the basis of those ideals. Compromising would be viewed as acquiescence to lawlessness and a sense that the powerless are subject to a different form of justice.
Also, it's not like the pardoning of Nixon is universally accepted as the right call. (And again, I'm not advocating either direction on that).
I'm not either. All the concerns you raise apply to the Nixon pardon and many think Ford lost to Carter because of it.
Re Trump, if you're going to do that as Harris, you'd be wise to try to get Trump to agree to fade from the scene ala Nixon in exchange for the commutation.
Coincidentally, I suggested that in a letter to the editor of the WSJ during Trump's first impeachment and it was published!
There are two conflicting problems. I agree with your earlier comment on domestic tranquility.
On the other hand, we really need to know if president's are allowed to empty out the NSA vault on the way out.
So IF Harris wins, I see a reason to pardon and a reason not to. Congress could solve this by passing a new law, but they won't because it will be seen as admitting Trump did wrong.
