UCLA (4-5) plays at Washington (5-5). We have played both so I am not sure which helps our strength of schedule the most. Maybe getting Washington up to bowl Eligibility with win #6?
OSU plays at NW. Hanging a second loss on OSU would be great. It would really put us n the drivers seat to play in the big ten championship game. Unlikely for sure, but root hard for NW.
MSU at Illinois. A win for MSU helps our strength of schedule.
Penn State at PU. A second loss on Penn State again increases our chances of reaching the big ten championship game. I know this will be tough, perhaps near impossible for some, but root hard for PU.
Nebraska at USC. We did not play USC so a Nebraska win improves our strength of schedule.
Rutgers at Maryland. Root for Maryland for same strength of schedule reasons.
Oregon at Wisconsin. Greatest reason to root for Wisconsin? If we could win out and Wisconsin could beat Oregon, we could be untied big ten champ.
Good bye week timing wise I think. Should help with normal nicks and bruises, Rourke’s thumb, and help our new LG get in the flow.

What if we lose a tough one to Ohio State? I wouldn't want them to have just lost to Northwestern, even if it would put us in the championship game. I think, not sure, championship game would be good but Penn State would have to also have lost.

The bye wk. is not only mentally refreshing for the players but gives us fans some relaxing time while not worrying about this Saturday's game.

Unlike bball where you at least play everyone once, I honestly think the winner of the B1G title game is the regular season champion. Not the team with the best record prior to the title game. Football was often split into 2 divisions so I don't think there's any real benefit there, just make the title and win it!

I wonder what the solution is. 18 teams, so 17 games, that can’t be done.
Would 4 divisions be better? Two 4 team divisions and two five team divisions. You would have 4 division race titles. Would you pick a “best record” so that only two teams played for the big ten title? Some how you have to keep the total number of games reasonable and if 3 are added vis the CFP it would be hard to do more than 12 regular season games.
Could we increase scholarship size, increase roster size, add in an extra bye week, and make a longer season work?

I'm not sure there is a reasonably good answer. In any other year IU's schedule this year would rank up there with any of the top schedules; IU played the defending National Champion and their opponent from that game. Who knew those two teams would both finish near .500 this season? As an IU fan, am I unhappy about that . . . hell no! Still, things could have been better if both teams came into Bloomington with a higher winning %.

No. I just think that's always been the sport of football. The regular season champion is the winner of the B1G title game.
