No. It was just a really dumb decision by Allar to throw that ball where he did.
Glad to see the Irish pull this one out. My cousin's grandson was the kid (#79) who got plugged into the O line when the starting Irish left tackle was injured early in the game. He made a few mistakes, but generally played well for three quarters.

No. They started on 25. Got like 10 yards on 1st play. You're 30 yards from a game winning FG attempt. Was just a terrible decision by the QB.
Seeds were what they were based upon the stupid seeding rules. UGA, Boise St and ASU would have all been seeded lower if not for them. IU should have been 8 seed.
Allar played a terrible game. If he had just played very poorly, PSU wins easily. Just atrocious QB play.
Except the seeds weren't "picked". Do away with the conf champ auto-bids and truly seed them. Heck, if you want my thought, do away with conf championship games altogether and non-playoff bowl games (thank God that Dukes Mayo Bowl was here in Charlotte featuring VA Tech and MN... bet that drew a few thousand of the most rabid college football fans!), go to a 32 team playoff and those neutral sites (or do first round home games to the higher seed, but with sponsors as bowl games) are all bowl games. I think it might help keep players from sitting out if everyone has a shot at a title. And, no portal until the season is done.

You know I never paid much attention to ND before they were put up against IU but I watched Freeman’s press conferences before that game and I really like the guy. He is going to have ND good for a long time up there.
And we played last years National champs and Runner-up this season. But we did not belong in the playoffs lol.
I hate Notre Dame but Marcus Freeman is a heck of a coach. They are lucky Brian Kelly left for LSU. They took a big gamble hiring a young unproven coordinator and it has turned out well.
It was just reported that with the 2 best quality losses of the year IU has been named SEC champion.
I never did decide who I wanted to win last night so I went to bed at the end of the third Q. I didn’t particularly want another PSU/OSU rematch, other than it would be worthy of a feather in the Big Ten’s cap. Now, I want Ohio State to beat Texas so they can beat ND. Under normal circumstances I only like Catholics…excuse me, the Irish when they play Peeyew. (What’s that I smell?)
They need to fix the system so that the 4 teams that win their conference championship are only guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, not the top 4 seeds.
That won't happen. A five round play off starting the first week of December would finish up in the first half of January. Around the same time that Spring semester is starting up. Entering the portal, visiting schools, making a decision, & moving would take two weeks in the best of circumstances. That really hurts academics.
I agree that it is by far the best thing for sports. But if that's how it ends up being done I think we should just make them a minor league sponsored by Universities that want to be involved. Everyone can stop with the charade about actually caring for their academic well-being. Just go straight pro.
They need a new rule to allow players who have signed a LOI to participate in Spring football, even if they are not yet enrolled. That would prevent the need to get into the portal in late Dec to be admitted to school for the Spring semester by early or mid January.
Having bowl teams weakened at the last possible moment by portal entries makes no sense. Awful for the game, the image, and even the product on the field.
Yeah, there's no good way around it. I don't pretend there is. It's AWFUL for the football product. I just don't know how it becomes workable.
There is such thing of a letter of intent. They don’t do that anymore.
Yes, they just "commit" which seems to be totally nonbinding and they can just change their mind if a better deal is offered.
Was thinking you could move the first round up if you got rid of conference championships, but it would be difficult. I just hate how watered down the other bowl games are and the playoffs have only made that worse. Not sure how much you'd have had to pay me to go watch VA Tech vs MN in the Dukes Mayo Bowl here, but I think it would've been 4 figures. I honestly still don't know who won. I just tossed in the portal thing, but I really do think it would be a good idea to end conference championships and convert all bowls to playoff games.
I thought Freeman was crying to the officials just about the entire game when Indiana played them. It was to the point that he had an official at his side every time the camera looked his way...Not a fan of him or Notre Dame.
It really was and nobody on this board brought it up. I thought it odd that an official was seemingly always in his hip pocket!

They're part of the big conference TV contracts. Getting rid of them would be very difficult.
I got a ticket to Michigan Tech hockey tonight, as a Christmas present from a sister. She doesn't like to go alone, last time I bought since she arranged it. I decided not to tell her I had planned for awhile to watch college football tonight. But my nephew brought it up, lol, when he was asked along. Another sister in town that we don't see often so I'm going and it'll be fun. Hopefully I can find a replay later.
