Next year

We play the schedule we have. Nebraska was in the top 25 of the coaches poll if we want to get technical about it.
If IU could’ve gotten the Oregon or Penn St game at home next season and won, then that would go a long way to shutting up the doubters. If we lose those two games next season, then the naysayers will still be saying we haven’t beaten anyone. We have Wisconsin at home, but I don’t think Fickell will have them ranked, so likely another season where we don’t beat a ranked team. We’ll have to hope we can win on the road at Oregon or PSU to get the respect.

This year was this year and next year is something new. Can't necessarily make a direct correlation from a rankings standpoint. Given that we did not prove we could play on the same level as top 5 teams, I don't expect any love or benefit of the doubt from the preseason rankings. I am guessing 20-25 is the best we will see. It will be a "prove it" ranking. Win and work our way back up, or stumble and never be seen in the rankings again.

Herbstreet does make sense. For the basketball tournament this year, forget whoever wins the tournament. Let’s give the championship to whoever we think had the best team!
We had a good portal last off season. I'd say using Herbstreit methodology, for the bb tournament, our Hoosiers should be at least a five seed. Being conservative.

Looking forward to March!
