Nebraska/Indiana Prediction Thread

Too soon :). Fridays only...been that way for years.
I've been starting this thread for years and, yes, I used to roll it out on Fridays, but this is the NEW Indiana and a new era in IU football. Out with the old, including the old timing of the prediction thread!

Finally, I'm more than a little superstitious when it comes to sports. We haven't lost since I started doing this on Wednesdays. Enough said.;)

Nebraska is the best team we will have faced so far, but we are the best team they will have faced, and it's in Bloomington on Homecoming with a sellout crowd! I do not see a letdown or a loss on Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if we won by 17 or 1 though. Our O will score, but our D hasn't proven to be able to shut teams down. If we hold them to FG's then this is a comfortable win. If they score TD's then it goes to the 4th quarter and we win on a FG. I'm optimistic it will be the former and not the latter, so IU to cover:

Hoosiers 34
Huskers 19

Across the interwebs, I've seen a number of Nebraska fans say "If we score at least 31, we will win."

I mean, yeah, sure, in most circumstances, if you put up 31 in a football game, there is a strong likelihood that you'll win.

Only one problem: when you're playing a team that's dropping 48 a game on their opponents, 31 ain't gonna get it done.

But sure, I'll humor the 31 point crowd.... IU 48, Neb 31, pulling away in the 2nd half like we have all year.

EDIT: The two teams Nebraska has put 30+ on are a combined 2-10 so far on the year. I also forgot they didn't score on PU until late in that game...and then only put 14 on Rutgers.

Changing my prediction: IU 48 - Neb 17.

30-17 the good guys.

Place kicker will be busier than usual and 3 - 4 punts.

Special teams will be the focus more than usual and the field position from that will be important.
I did not know this until a couple of hours ago but Nebraska leads the nation in having both punts and field goal attempts blocked, not a stat to be proud. (per BTN).

I did not know that, but one of the Nebraska posters said he would be surprised if we did not block one.

That must be why.

Win by 1 is good enough for me.

Went back and watched the block we had on Maryland. If Nebraska is THAT bad on protection, their kicker and punter may want to call in sick Saturday. I forgot how hard we drilled Maryland's punter on that block late in the game.

Nebraska has played one away game,at Purdue.
The crowd Saturday is gonna be jacked big time and I’m not sure they will be prepared for that.
I think we rattle mini me Mahomes or whatever they call him, into a couple early picks.
IU 31
Neb 20

I thought the away game was at PU? But good point, our crowd should be jacked! I won’t be able to talk after the game.
