You think the ppl in NC should pay for internet access now?
You didn't read the article. You have to pay $400 to get the equipment to get 30 days free and the end of which your automatically enrolled in the $120 per month plan. I'm going to give Elon a pass and I'm guessing the auto enroll function was a mistake. $400 in equipment fees is pretty ridiculous for any service though.

We know where this leads

That’s a hell of a deal…probably saves $200
Wait, he's really charging people for the equipment? Doesn't matter how good of a deal that is, it's entirely counter to what he (and others) have been claiming.

What's even the point? Equipment? This whole free internet thing only really has any meaning at all if you can just hook your phone up to it and get online. It's the middle of a disaster, and homes are destroyed. Who is installing equipment? Only the people who don't need free internet, that's who.

I have no idea whether they are being charged for the equipment or not.

My guess….you pay for it after the 30 days.

My point is that the narrative about great philanthropist Elon might be complete bullshit. A free trial isn't philanthropy. AOL didn't used to mail me discs of philanthropy weekly.
It’s always been reported free for 30 days. It’s a damn emergency and they are trying to get people in touch with others and such.

If he makes them pay retroactively then maybe you have a point…otherwise not so much

He’s not subsidizing them. He’s providing a month of desperately needed service to those in need. A guy who has no responsibility to do anything

Bullshit. No one reported "for 30 days." Is he making then give a credit card number just in case they want to renew? Automatically, of course.

This smells a hundred ways from Sunday.

We need more info on that. I don’t think they had to do that. It seems impractical in the circumstances.
According to this, both evils are true: you have to pay for the equipment, and you get automatically renewed for a paid plan when your 30 days are up.

Most will have to buy the equipment but can get a refund within 30 days if service is not wanting to be continued. The service is free if you are in hurricane area.

There is a name for him, give a black person a tie, a few dollars, and a suit. He will sell out his soul. He does not speak of racism, red-lining, unfair labor, housing, and banking practices. He is just another black for white supremacy and privilege.
You didn't watch the video then. He lays out all the bullshit that blacks had to endure, yet overcame to develop their own economies by focusing on their communities prior to the government "helping". Even lays out Black Wallstreet in Tulsa before it was destroyed by racists. The guy is in agreement with Malcolm X for crissakes, yet you imply he's an Uncle Tom or worse.
