Wow!! My daughter has been doing the countdown for months. She's super amped. I just texted her the kids are older and now it's rated MA only. Can't watch
I'm going to try to get my kids to watch this series with me. Most recent season OK for a 12 year old?

Watched Coda. Apple +. Fantastic. Brilliant. See it
CODA is one of my all-time favorite movies. Have watched the last song (audition for Berklee) so may times now. I also have the soundtrack. That performance in the movie was not overdubbed later. That is her singing on stage. Just incredible. And when she starts signing? That's as good as it gets.

And I got really choked up when they cut the sound during the school music show. That was absolutely brilliant.

She is half welsh. Natural singers -- almost as natural as Chinese with math.

How could you not get choked up. Outstanding. They cut the sound with mom and dad just watching everyone's reactions. The teacher on the piano and the parents upstairs. Great, great movie.

Theodore Roosevelt is on tonight on the History Channel. Yeah, it will be a History Channel quality production, but Doris Kearns Goodwin is a producer so it ought to at least be accurate.

Depends on which historian she stole the ideas from.

Just finished Better Call Saul but ya’ll kind of ruined that ending. The cinematography and the openings of each episode are so brilliant. Can’t wait until the final episodes.

I decided I’d had enough sun between lake and the race so went to see Top Gun today. I’m so surprised how much I really loved it. Kinda think it’s a movie for everyone. Cruise can still play this type of part better than just about anyone, the best, smartest, cockiest guy in the room. He doesn’t try to play too young lots of references to him being the old timer. But he’s dealing with guilt about the loss of Goose, and of course his son happens to be in this one. The aerial cinematography is breathtaking and evidently Cruise and the case actually took flight school. There’s laughs, tears, love story, everything you could want in a summer blockbuster. Think it’s ok to bring kids too also. Some language of course, but not much else offensive. It’s cliche and corny but just what I needed to escape today. Lots of applause and standing ovation at the end.

I liked the movie, but parts of it annoyed me. The attack is the Rebel assault on the first death star almost exactly. I don't know why we would blow up a Russian or Chinese uranium plant, they are the only adversaries with 5th gen fighters and both have uranium plants already.

It is fun, and I love watch fighter jets do their thing, but I just had this nagging sensation that the F18s were going to have droids in the rear seat.

Aren't you more excited for the Bubba show afterwards?

I just sat back and enjoyed. But I don’t know what the Death Star is so.... you know a lot more about this stuff than I do. But at least I know how to spell a lot! Aloha....

WTF? And here I thought I was culturally ignorant...

Dude...Top Gun is just Star Wars in different packaging so you're going to have to get over that. The original has a lot of the same elements, but Tom Cruise's character is a mash-up of Luke and Han Solo all in one!

Not to be a buzzkill or anything (and I know I'm not breaking any big secret news or anything), but for a long time 75% of action movies were just Die Hard in a different setting. The pop culture narrative is that there are only 7 stories in all of the world, so Top Gun had to be one of them! 🤷‍♂️

Here I thought Tom Cruise’s character was a mash up of Vin and Chris.

I like it. The first episode paints a picture of a man in two parts, driven by two seemingly unrelated desires: one, to do the right thing always at all times, and two, to achieve the pinnacle of personal success. Very interesting dichotomy.

Yes, a worthwhile watch. It's not Ken Burns, but it sure isn't Ancient Aliens, either.

Based on the commercials, it looks like the History Channel is going to have some more decent stuff this summer.

I thought the first Top Gun was Grease with airplanes instead of cars (and slightly less dancing).

That was bad. I couldn't finish it.
Bad content or production or has Bill completely lost his marbles? If you believe the rumors he’s possibly worse than Biden at this point. Sad given how smart he was back in the day.

Haven’t heard that rumor but not surprised you have, given your sources. But this is getting very close to political which isn’t encouraged on this one thread.

Finished the 1st episode of ST S4. Seems promising but the Chrissy scene at the end was a straight Nightmare on Elm Street rip-off.

episodes are longgggggg
I fell asleep half way through first episode of S4. I chalk it up to age rather than the quality of the show. Opening scene was disturbing. I have mixed feelings about whether they should have delayed it a week or two after Uvalde. I lean on the side of delaying given that such a large portion of the viewership is kids.
