Because we didn't like a like a felon witch?

I'm surprised Donald Trump isn't at the top of the list. He's the greatest scientist ever.

Btw. Why is Elon Musk on that list? He is more of a pot-taking engineer than a scientist.

If that's the case, we might as well consider these guys:

I am more surprised that Einstein didn't make the list.
I'm not sure I'd call Einstein a "scientist". He was a theoretical physicist. To me, "science" requires experimentation. Einstein did math, and created thought experiments, but it took experimental physicists to confirm his hypotheses.

Nicola Tesla is an obvious answer.

So are my neighbors where I used to live. One was a radiation biologist at CSU and had a number of research grants. Another neighbor was a scientist at the CDC labs. Down the street was a civil engineer professor who knew more about groundwater behavior in connection with extraction industries than most people in the US. One of my poker buddies was a wood scientist and knew more about the structure and weight bearing properties of wooden beams than many. There are many more. The point is that most of us can't swing a dead cat without hitting a scientist. The poll question is really stoopid.

I’m still going with Sarah Palin. She said it herself. If the cream puffs can’t handle it...not my problem.

I am sort of surprised Sagan did not make the list. The "pale blue dot" video makes rounds fairy often.

Speaking of Hawking:

Stephen Hawking warns world ‘in danger’ from Trump and Brexit in message from ‘beyond the grave’
Physicist condemned 'global revolt against experts, including scientists'

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ath-brief-answers-big-questions-a8585181.html

Stephen Hawking has “spoken from beyond the grave” to warn the world that science and education are under threat around the world.

The cosmologist, who had motor neurone disease, recorded a message before he died in March at the age of 76, and his words were broadcast at a launch event in London for his final book, Brief Answers to the Big Questions.

Professor Hawking warned in the message that education and science were “in danger now more than ever before” and that experts were not being respected.
