More thoughts on Tuesday's suspensions....

Lander was for only one year. Trey and Leal played 3 yrs together IIRC.
We left Nick's after the Nebraska game and were driving up Kirkwood and they were walking the opposite direction. I pointed and waved like a fan boy, but I digress. Point is they're close friends. 🙂

I posted something like this elsewhere but it should be repeated. Nobody died, Nobody was hurt, and no law was broken. However, what was broken was the bond of Trust with their teammates due to their selfishness and inability to follow direction. If I am on this team and following the rules, I have to think, if you can't follow rules and direction off the Court, how can I trust You on the Court.

If We are down by one with five seconds left in the game and Coach draws up a play that calls for Me to receive a pass from You as I come off a Screen, How can I trust You to make that pass? Or will You say screw it I'm going to drive the ball to the basket because I think it's the best option?

I know as We started the Year there was big talk about How these guys all "Bought in" to the new system. Apparently, Some of them still haven't.
I'm not really sure what happened really has any bearing on trusting someone on the last play. Might be extrapolating too much there.

What?? You don’t think Leal is all of a sudden going to be thinking…. I can’t pass the ball to XJ. A month ago he stayed out past his bedtime with friends. Therefore he’ll never be able to make a play at this moment…. I almost spit my drink when I read that ridiculous post

I think I'll back the coach on this one. He is, after all, in charge of the program. Yes, young college age men are capable of doing a lot of stupid things. Posters have verified this fact many times by recounting their own mis-adventures in college. However, being answerable to a commitment you made to the team is an important lesson to learn and I trust CMW far more than any poster on this forum to determine penalties for team rule violations. He played the game at IU when IU Basketball actually was significant. He, himself, got punished when he broke team rules. He has also played the game at the highest level. He spent a life time coaching the best players in the game and dealing with their various indiscretions. Above all, he knows what it takes for a young man to be successful at the game. Yes, I'll go with the CMW on this one. No questions asked, do what you think needs to be done, Mike.

100% agree. Totally on board with the coach. I was referring to those on these boards who wanted the players drawn and quartered

The suspension's by CMW remind me of another coach that would do, MAYBE DID, the EXACT same thing.

Possibly CMW's mentor by the name of RMK.

He taught CMW well.....and was a great move by CMW. He sent the message.

I hope it was worth it to those five they cost us a totally winnable game and now we are 7-7

I wondered if this loss would have had any impact on us getting into the tournaments. It sure didn’t help with the seeding. It’s amazing how important every game is.
