Vaccines are based on science. Science isn’t perfect. It brought us nuclear bombs. But vaccines have drastically altered the survival level of human beings. If vaccines are produced and marketed with components that cause unintended side effects, then regulating that should be on the table.
Bottom line, if your anti-VAX, your anti-science and you’re being hypocritical using the cell phone in your hand right now.

I'm not extrapolating anything. A higher percentage of the population became skeptical of vaccines and our medical institutions because after Covid. Your medical community should apologize for the mistakes that were made and put on a full course press to regain the public's trust. This conversation isn't about us. It's about the increase in the population that lost trust in our institutions and medical communities because of how Covid was handled. If you think screaming MAGA are anti-vaxxers is going to help regain that, then you're wrong. I'd like to see medical institutions regain trust in the public, which would benefit all of us.

So scientists urged people to take emergency preventive measures to cope with the crisis while scientists attempted to develop vaccines faster than ever in history.
That’s a reasonably accurate account of what happened.

I agree with you that Covid made certain people vaccine skeptical. I’d argue that these people already had the ball teed up to be vaccine skeptical. I mean, it’s a pretty big jump to say I’m not sure about the fifth Covid booster so my kids not getting the polio vaccine.

What happened is the U.S. funded viral research in China that ended up escaping from a lab. Our chief medical authorities denied they had anything to do with it, but at the same time said this will kill you and your whole family so you need to stay inside for two years.
They pumped a vaccine that was pretty much junk and is spiking the excess death rate in years hence. They pumped worthless masks and distancing. They lied, lied, lied. And they should probably be lined up against a wall and shot.

No, anti-Vax folks have always existed and the rise of social media gave them a voice that MAGA politicized during covid. It was a lie that people were dying from the covid vaccine. Remember Mas telling us that young healthy athletes would be dropping dead, because they were receiving the covid vaccine? Never happened.

I thought you were calling me an antivaxxer, but after rereading it you were referring to my post. My apologizes for saying you did.
We should probably find traits that would define that population. My assumptions from general observations (and stuff my wife sees in mom groups) is they know little about vaccines, are more susceptible to misinformation, and found a group they could identify with and one that gives a false purpose.
I also see an overlap with this group and families who homeschool, then wonder why their kids are less socially adjusted and not as bright as kids who aren’t homeschooled.
And the internet and social media reinforces all of the misinformation as facts. Overall, people need to identify with something and this is their weird calling. I could use other adjectives but that’s not productive.
I found a similar overlap between kids who are homeschooled and kids who score well on tests. Those closeted freaks seem to know stuff. Which is why I thought we were sending them to school in the first place .
We’ve also lost trust in our institutions. For good reason. For not good reasons. Probably a good time to revisit Paul newman’s closing in the verdict
It comes down to what is the objective? If it's to call people names, piss them off more, and get fewer people to trust institutions and take vaccines, be like whyisbbcursed.
If the objective is to get more people to trust institutions and take vaccines, a mea culpa tour about Covid by the medical community/institutions is better path forward in my opinion. However, it requires people acknowledging that COVID was handled poorly, which a segment of people don't want to admit.
I'm personally a right leaning libertarian type, so I'm cool with getting rid of 50-80% of the federal government and letting markets figure it out. However, I assume most liberals are for these institutions and shifting blame to MAGA is dumb, is a dumb strategy in my opinion.

I agree that we lost trust in our institutions and I’m in that group. But that shouldn’t mean finding and joining an anonymous group on Facebook that promotes BS.
People are shaped by their environment and these environments now exist on their phone, especially the more cancerous/conspiracy environments that have grown over the last decade. People think they smart or educated even though what they learning is an endless feed of nonsense. They want an identity, to feel and to be accepted.
For example, the WC has shaped me into one of the smartest and woke people in Colorado.
