SCt orders admin to facilitate return of wrongly deported Maryland man

Why not. We kidnapped him to send him there.
No, we didn't. We arrested him for being in the US illegally.

He's a citizen of El Salvador and we sent him back to his country. It's up to El Salvador to send him back, if they want.

Unless you think arresting someone is kidnapping? Is that what you're saying?

So Trump is so powerless that he can't talk to El Salvador's president and arrange for him back?

Art of the deal my ass.
The El Salvador President already said he's not sending him back.

I thought you didn't like it when Trump plays hardball?

This is why the Dems lose elections. They think breaking the law in the US is no big deal and we're supposed to provide legal defenses for millions of illegals let in by Biden.

The Trump administration already admitted his deportation was an accident.

SCOTUS has said they need to help facilitate his return.

This is on Trump. He could do it, but he gets no benefit outside of looking bad, so he's going to fight it when if he just helped facilitate the return, he could claim a victory and show that if a mistake is made, they can and will correct it.

This will now continue to drag on because of Trump's ego.

It's amazing how Democrats can insist an illegal alien should be returned to the US.

This is completely insane and is on par with allowing men in women's sports.

He's an El Salvadore citizen now in El Salvadore. Where he belongs. It's not up to the US to see he is sent back.

Not every immigrant here is here illegally. We would know if they were if they were to get, wait for it.... due process, which they are owed.

I don't give a shit where this guy ends up. I do care that this entire administration just ignores the courts.

So how do you propose to get him back?
I doubted he would be back the minute he went into Salvadoran custody.

My guess was that the Trump admin would make a cursory gesture to satisfy the court’s order, but no more than that. And this will come as a surprise to nobody.

Of course not every immigrant is here illegally. This one was.

The courts said the administration should 'facilitate' his return.

They've evidently contracted El Salvadore about it because El Presidente said they're not sending him back. The SC was no ignored.

The previous administration did not enforce immigrations laws. That precedes any legal opinions today.

Not according to the Trump Administration.
They said that they made a mistake deporting him. Not that he wasn't here illegally.

I think eventually he will get returned. Hopefully his gang in El Salvadore can protect him until that happens.

You know damn well if Trump listened to the court he could have that guy back in the US in a matter of hours.
And YES Biden's border policy was a leaky sieve. At best.

Maybe. But all the court said was 'facilitate'. That could mean to let him in if El Salvadore sends him back.

I doubt it means coerce their government to send him back.

Leaky sieve? Well, that's being generous.

Hey, man, I said "at best".
lol I don't think Trump is any different than any other administration when it comes to obeying court laws.

The SC left it wide open when they used the term 'facilitate'.

facts

-There is no evidence he was a member of the gang that he is accused of being in
-He was a full-time employed taxpayer
-He was not here illegally since he had an asylum claim that by law should be heard
-Even the Trump administration determined that he shouldn't have been in the deported group
-deportation due process was not followed
-The concentration camp he is in is operated by El Salvador but clearly at the behest of the Trump administration. Meaning, if DJT wanted to comply with the unanimous conclusion of the SCOTUS, he could with nearly 100% certainty do it, by just asking.

Welp at least we stopped Karen from using pronouns in an email signature. This is way better.

They arrested him because they claimed he is one of the gang members. He wasn't, and the US government said it was a mistake. He lived in the US lawfully with a legal work permit and his wife is a US citizen and pregnant. There is not one court paper filed that said he wasn't lawfully in the US. This is what the Court stated: "To this day, the Government has cited no basis in law for Abrego Garcia’s warrantless arrest, his removal to El Salvador, or his confinement in a Salvadoran prison. Nor could it."

Yeah, Trump really respects the Supremes.

🙄
While we might not care about where criminals end up, we should care what the 5th Amendment states: "No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law" and the privilege of Habeas Corpus in Article I, Section 9, Clause 2.

It is a slippery slope to be indifferent about the process (note--I did not say result), and an equally slippery slope when you play games with a Supreme Court ruling. If this case gets back to the Supreme Court (and I'm guessing it might), the administration is going to whacked. If it doesn't get whacked, that should be even more concerning

The administration knows they can't fulfill their campaign promises if they are bound by the legal processes already in place. This whole situation is to test how far they can go in deporting people en masse without dealing with immigration courts and the like. If they continue down this road, they will eventually deport citizens, who will then be in the custody of another country.

As extreme as your statements are, I'm struggling to disagree with them. That's not good.

So the greatest negotiator that ever lived negotiated a deal with El Salvador that doesn't include a return policy? We shouldn't have to coerce. It should be baked into an agreement. Imagine sending a US citizen there by mistake and having no way of getting them back.

Maybe Trump's skills aren't as good as he thinks.
