Here is a simple truth. Perverts want to be near where kids are. So they become teachers, coaches, and also volunteer for extra circular activities. Here in PA because of Jerry Sandusky if we get new people in the church and they want to help out in the children's ministry they are required to have a background check. Of course this would only work if they had been caught previously. The bottom line is this perversion is growing. It's always been here, but it is getting worse.

Or they work for Nickelodeon. Why exactly the Catholic Church had to become the whipping boy for pedos everywhere is lost on me.

But when you’re predisposed against religion anyway….

I’d say the Catholic Church earned it by not keeping faith with the public trust for decades.
Predators have no business being employed as clergymen … and then being swept under the rug.

Fair enough. But you never hear consternation about sending your kid to school when they’re more likely to be diddled there than as an alter server.

But the idea that we should hold the Catholic Church to a higher standard than a public school does wash with me.

It is the foundation of all western society after all.

Yep, they not only swept it under the rug, but enabled it. They simply moved predator priests on to new parishes.

My wife was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school until 8th grade. We started raising our kids in the church but finally had enough.

No one has a real clear number, but estimates put the cost to the Catholic Church at over $3 billion to settle cases so far.

I did those cases. Defending the arch diocese. They were brought as Rico cases. Was awful. And the church was way too slow to even offer a half-assed apology

Bernard Law was literally rescued and brought to the Vatican. Still waiting on the apologies for Father Caughlin and Father Tiso.

Exactly. Bernard Law was literally rescued by the Vatican and put in charge of a church in rome and all the while eligible to vote (and did vote) in the 2005 papal enclave.

The Church has earned it

Not only that, she and her husband attended Concordia in River Forest. Apparently graduated just a few years ago.

Weird definition of freaky...
Agreed. These adults are disgusting predators, and their criminal conduct should be called out for exactly what it is. The fact that they’re women doesn’t somehow make the behavior less egregious. And referring to it as “freaky” is a disservice to the victims.

Also, the guy dropped the thread title with the two headlines but no text of his own. What’s his point? Where’s the condemnation? Or does “freaky” not warrant condemnation?

most of us could only have dreamed to get that kind of action at that age.
I’m dating myself or my school but we had a typing class. Best class I’ve ever taken in my life. To this day I type 90 words a minute. I can crank out a post like it’s nothin. Teacher had the best boobs ever. Buddy on the football team who had been held back 17 times and looked 40 “allegedly” hooked up with her. She was something else

I also took 4 years of ping pong. I’m like forest gump

🤣🤣🤣🤣. Only class in high school I paid any attention lol. Like a porn site old coug. That and ping pong. I type faster than any paralegal I’ve ever met and by a good margin. And at a rec center or random hotel I can’t tell you how many people have said “ dude wtf” when I grab a ping pong paddle.

Can’t do algebra but….

Honestly, it kind of does.
Obviously every case is different, with varying degrees of severity and victim impact. But all child predators, regardless of gender, are morally reprehensible. I’m not able to get to where you seem to be - - that it’s somehow less wrong if the predator is a woman.

I didn't want to take typing, but I got good at it. My teacher was a short old German man named Mr. Potts, so my experience was not as exhilarating as yours.

Nobody thinks about this, but if you influence a child sexually it is like you are starting something early which will take a hold of him forever.

Of course you're right in theory. And if you read what some grown men who went through this when they were young have to say, you'd have to agree. But the truth is most of society really doesn't view it as the same.

Same, but I took it because there were good looking girls in the class. Being able to type has been very helpful in school and life too.

My Dad went into the Army in 1941 after graduating from HS. I guess there were aptitude tests and he was both a really fast & accurate typist and really good at math. So he became the company clerk. Stationed in Hawaii, right after Pearl Harbor. He was scheduled to go there just before, but some sort of delay spared him from the attack.

His obit says he served from Nov '42 until Oct '45. Is there anything you won't lie about?

By the way, it sounds like your dad was a helluva guy based on his obituary. It's a shame you have ran him down on here.
