There Were No Playboy Bunnies In WWII, But There Were On The 'Dirty Dozen' Set
The "dozen" in the title of this star-studded 1967 movie included Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savalas, and John Cassavetes. Providing a little extra muscle were NFL star Jim Brown and Clint Walker, who'd risen to TV fame on Cheyenne. While the movie was shooting in England in the summer of 1966, Dolly Read stopped by for a few publicity shots.
Dolly Read was fresh off her appearance in Playboy as Miss May 1966. Born in Bristol, UK, she is one of a handful of British Playmates, and she was a Bunny as well, serving drinks and greeting guests at Playboy Clubs in Chicago, London, and New York. She became most famous as the star of Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and she married Dick Martin (of Laugh-In fame) in 1974 -- and again in 1978.
