Had not heard of Zeb Jackson, but wow, looks like an Iverson like talent and they just added a 5 star big

Todd is more likely to play overseas than actually make it to Michigan. From what I’ve heard.

Michigan is doing a 180 from what finally got them to consistent relevance. They can have all the Maceo Baston's they want and it won't matter without good coaching.

They have been good for years and howard will get alot of five starts cause he was in " the league".

Meh... He's no where close, not in quickness, not in handle, and certainly not in will. Also his shot is strange, it comes from the opposite side and across his face, that's not going to fly against NCAA defense. When he misses, it doesn't miss long or short like a shooter with good mechanics, it misses right or left like a player with bad mechanics almost if the ball randomly comes off his pinky or thumb .... Of course he has time to improve and will, but he's nowhere near Iverson at this stage.

I disagree, I think he might be a BETTER shooter than Iverson at age. I' telling you, that kid is going to be something. I'm no expert, but talent like that is hard not to see

Beilein>>>>>>>Howard

I don’t care if they land a top 5 class every year. It’s a win to not see JB on the sideline. How we didn’t hire that guy in 2006, I’ll never know?

They made a big time hire and it’s going to pay dividends. We should do the same.

I call BS on this. If we would have hired him, you would be on a tear about how could we hire someone with so little experience and no history of winning. And you KNOW it is true.

And the dozen or so players he's put in the NBA the last decade.

Truly an unbelievable NBA rate for Beilein, yes. He has given really good outside shooting looks to his team and has put a number of guys in position to really understand how to look for an outside shot.

Not at all. I gave Archie my full support until the dumpster fire that occurred last year.

Now if Howard crapped the bed his first two years and was signing 3 and 4 star 100+ ranked recruits then yes, I’d call a spade a spade.

Just more trash.

Our University President, and a few board members. They gave us Sampson a short time later.

This proves you're nothing but a troll here to trash IU. You constantly complained that Miller's resume wasn't enough for IU to hire him but thing Juwan Howard is a "big time hire." That's illogical and stupid. First Miller's resume made him one of the most desired coaches in the country at major programs. Second Howard wouldn't even be in the running as head coach of any program outside of Michigan and only at Michigan because he played there. He has NO head coaching resume at all. He doesn't even have any college coaching experience. This has a good chance of being a very bad move by Michigan because he's way unproven and could be a total failure as a head coach.

I like Archie and think we can win this year......

That being said Archie would have never been interviewed for the Lakers head coaching job, and is not even close to the name Juwan Howard is. In college basketball Juwan Howard, especially at MI, is for sure a big time hire. He is just as big as Penny Hardaway, and kids still know who the fab 5 is and still think they are cool as hell. He will (already has) get great talent on his name alone. That is not mentioning every single person I have read that is an established basketball professional has nothing but good things to say about him and predict he will be amazing.

He might recruit OK for a while because of his name but that doesn't make him a good coach. No one knows if he can coach. No one outside of Michigan would have hired him. It's not a "big time hire" for anyone. It's a very risky hire for Michigan.

What are you talking about, you are talking out of your ass. He was an assistant coach for the Heat, got an interview FOR THE HEAD COACH OF THE LAKERS. You think no other college would have hired him? Stop smoking my stash. That is such a stupid comment. Penny got hired at Memphis, you think Juwan doesn't have more of a name in coaching circles than him? He couldn't have landed a gig like Memphis?

Stop, you sound stupid.

So what? NBA and college are two different animals and successful crossovers aren't common. Look at Pitino and Saban as good examples. It's even less common when the coach has never been a head coach. I do not think many if any major programs other than Michigan would have hired Howard and Hardaway was hired at Memphis because he went to Memphis State. Both of those schools are hoping to catch lightening in a bottle by hiring famous alums as coaches. They're taking risks.

You should stop because you sound so emotional.

Dude u are the biggest ass and internert tough guy I have ever seen. No other school would have hired Howard. So what if got an interview. Tons of asst coaches get interviews. Stop being so emotional and confrontational and nobody gives a fck about how much money you spent on tickets it's just a game .

How many Asst coaches got a Lakers interview? If you think he would not have landed as a head coach in the NBA or at major college if not for taking the MI job I can't help your kind of stupid.

Internet tough guy and emotional best you got? How about facts like Howard was an assistant for the heat for 6 years and has been taking head coaching interviews for the past few years. He is highly regarded by NBA players and coaches. Thinking he couldn't land a power 5 job, is just beyond stupid.

First he said he spent about $25K for tickets and then he said $35K. I don't know how much he spends or care how much he spends but he should have a better handle on how much he spends. ;)

I invest 25k+ a year in IU tickets. I’ll be louder than you can imagine if we suck this year.

Nailed it.

“Names” don’t coach - coaches coach. Howard might be very good at coaching, but he also could be a bust. Michigan is making a bet.

Agree about Howard being a bit of an unknown commodity, but what is the evidence that Miller was one of the most desired coaches in the country? Was he in line for a different major job if not IU?

The Wolverines are also in pursuit of top-50 big men Mark Williams (No. 30) and Hunter Dickinson (No. 36). They are in the final five for five-star guards Josh Christopher (No. 12) and Nimari Burnett (No. 19) and the final three for five-star guard Jaden Springer (No. 16). Michigan is also recruiting Moses Moody (No. 29), who took an official visit in late September.

Is he as good as JB? Hell no. But JB quit. So is there a better hire they could have made? I would guess the answer is also hell no. Slam-dunk hire.

I'm guessing you don't know the connection of Rob Pelinka and Juwan Howard.
Did you know how good Pat Knight was? He became the head coach of a Big 12 team.

Howard also interviewed with the Cavs and the twolves, and they asked Miami for permission to do so.

Every person that has been around him coaching has said he is great. 3 nba franchises last year alone interviewed him, even if one was a curtesy interview. To think he wasn’t going to land a head coaching job at a power 5 school or NBA gig if not for MI is really dumb.

There were a lot of articles like this with Miller tied to many major college openings: https://www.thechampaignroom.com/20...llinois-basketball-rumors-john-groce-hot-seat Others would be NC State, Washington, Oklahoma State and here in Dayton the Buckeye fans wanted him big time.
