In his last four games, dude is shooting 4-29 from the field. A resounding 13.8% FG%. Has anyone else taken notice to this? I run a business and have made good and bad hiring decisions throughout my career. One thing that I cannot stand is bad attitudes and I am not sure what is off with him, but, it’s clear to me the best thing for him would to be taken out of the starting lineup. This team, and I suspect him especially, lacks accountability and discipline and it all rolls from Woodson. This guy has the talent but it’s been replaced by a complete I don’t give a shit attitude. This woeful shooting is not due to a lack of skill. Here are the stats over the course of the last 4 games.

USC: 0-8
Iowa: 2-6
Illinois: 1-10
OSU: 1-5
Total: 4-29


In looking at his minutes, they are definitely down over this stretch. But if I am Woody, I do not start him and I make him watch from the bench. Make him earn his way back into the lineup through effort in practice. Sure, he is going to get paid either way. But, we can establish some sense of pride / standard when it comes to discipline, Accountability and effort.

Perhaps. To me, and this is not exclusive to Mgbako, is having and maintaining a high bar / standard. If guys are playing poorly, particularly on the effort / hustle side, there is no accountability to it. Because of this, it translates into other areas of the game. I think Woodson has been around the game for so long that he no longer has an edge to him. He’s lost a killer instinct and have a strong passion for winning. Holding guys accountable. This job is like a “bucket list” item where he landed it and can say he did it. But, the outcome / performance of his teams is a far second to saying “I was the head coach at Indiana”. We need a fiery coach who is committed to continuous improvement. Committed to hard work. Discipline and accountability and is unwavering in the pursuit of winning and setting and maintaining a high standard. This entire team, and Woodson is the ring leader, is all about “being paid” and a resume builder and if wins come with it, that’s a bonus. But hey, the experience is all that matters along with getting paid and putting IU on the resume.

This is an unpopular take, but I look forward to Woody getting fired and Mgbako and Reneau finding new teams. Reneau is a black hole on offense and plays with zero intensity on defense. After 1.5 years, Mgbako is still completely lost out there. Highly overrated. Our system is too complicated for him to grasp.

When he is on, he is a bulk scorer. But when he is off he really has little use on the floor because he doesn't do a lot of little things that help a team win.

Loved that effort from Carlyle last night. I wish we saw that every game because that is the kind of scoring I was hoping to see from him when he signed on.

Set the standards in practice and meetings of what is and is not acceptable and the offender, will understand why they’re sitting next to the coach. Unfortunately, Woody seems to have forgotten one of his college coach’s best coaching tactics…ass meets bench, ass relays message to brain to play better. Another thing he’s forgotten too, that I loved with RMK, was the 5 guys who played the best in half #1 started half #2, regardless of starter or non-starter. Short of a first half injury, has Woody ever not started the same 5 as began the game?

Fiery was a poor choice. I don’t care if they show outward passion or not. I do care about a standard (albeit a high one) and holding yourself and the team accountable to it. This is completely lacking with this team and staff.

It’s the “I’m the king of this school ef everyone else” attitude that these basketball players seem to get when they step on campus! They think they can go, do, say, and get away with whatever they want because they're the big man on campus! Self-entitlement has ruined quite a few players in this program, and MM is next in line. I noticed it more live than on TV how MM spends so much time standing flat -footed on offense waiting for someone to throw him the ball. This doesn't allow you to be engaged in the offense, doesn't help you get to the rim to rebound and doesn't help you transition to defense.

I don't believe MM would have started Friday if Tucker was available. He was on the bench when the game was on the line. His role has to be off the bench until something changes with his effort. He looks like he has checked out.

Liking that post is a faux pas. In short, under no circumstance does a player on the team “like” that post. Particularly a starting "leader" of the team. If I am Woodson, I kick him off the team. At a minimum, bench him indefinitely. Right or wrong, you simply do not do that.

Last Year We could put up with MM's Defensive Deficiencies due to his Youth and Inexperience, and the fact that He was productive on Offense to help offset the problems. His whole game has regressed, particularly the Offense. But what is it with Us? If We get a good Offensive Player or a transfer with a history of good shooting and Offense, the minute We put Them on the floor wearing a cream and crimson uniform, they look like they are at their first Junior High School practice or game. Goode at least for last night looks like the Shooter We thought He was. That said, WE can't expect Him to score 23 points a game, We need two other guys to step up and consistently get Us 12 to 15 points per game if We are going to win games.

I was a very humble D3 player back when we used prairie schooners to travel across the territory to play games in barns...I do not find our system terribly complex.

IMO, he struggles more so than anyone else with helping/switches and defensive positioning. And to answer your question, at least once last night, he stood in the wrong corner.

I think he has changed the lineup more this year than any other (Carlyle & Galloway). I doubt Woody will be as patient with players the rest of the year, given his perilous position.

I think Mgbako would perform better in a system with less helping/switches. But then again, due to his poor defensive fundamentals and lack of lateral quickness, he's going to get exposed either way.

I've noticed he stands a lot which makes him easy to guard. I used to love watching Richard Hamilton or Reggie Miller play offense because they moved.
