Mgbako in portal

Much has been said about his defense and how he coud be coached to play better. Maybe, but I doubt it. Offense is easy. Certainly there is work to develop footwork, shooting etc. Aside from his shooting ability, there was not much else he brought to the table- worse than average ball handler, weak at the rim for his size. Seemed like if he hit his first shot, he could go for 30. If he missed, he might end up scoreless.

Playing good defense is hard. It requires a player to play with intensity and fire. Never saw that with him. How can a player be so passive playing at this level?

I think Mgbako can play. Sometimes confusion looks like laziness or disinterest. A great coach sometimes can turn that around. Often not though, lol. If the price is right, is involved in much of this. I heard DeVries frees guys for the nearly extinct mid range 2 pointer. Mgbako can shoot those. Good player. Not great. Be interesting what DeVries gets.

He played the wing at 6'9. I think he has a really smooth offensive game that is certainly more geared for a wing but defensively he seemed more geared for defending a bigger F. He 100% has the game and skills, they just need to to be fine tuned. Assuming he is willing to do that, its hard to know who was to blame for the lack of development? Him or Woodson (or both)?

Tucker should stay then because he is very good from 2.

That’s what I think it is.

I like Tucker, if he buys in. I would love it if we somehow retained Mgbako and B. Tucker, and added Tucker DeVries... Add a distributor and Coach would have the core of a good offensive team. I have to believe like many, it's been coaching. Of course part of that is on the players, but I still bet DeVries could get the pistons firing.

Ahh well, I just would like some continuity, but I'll trust coach.
