Mgbako in portal

I would say any one that enters the portal from here on out, is very likely gone. DeVries will have had a chance to meet with Mgbako, and anyone else that enters from this point forward. If I'm DeVries and I've met with them, and they THEN enter the portal... see ya.

One of best quotes of press conference was "I didn't recruit you and you didn't recruit me" I took that to mean See ya!

It just looks like nobody ever taught him anything.
I think that's about the best way to describe him. It's very weird to watch him play. TMP (I think) said he doesn't have the instinct for the game and I think that's fair too. But I lean more to what you say, even if you don't have the instinct, learning to get into a defensive position should at least be manageable.

I read somewhere that he played zone defense exclusively in HS. If so, it certainly explains a lot.

The dude moves like he has lead in his shoes. He just isn't very fast or explosive. Great shot, but can't guard a chair. May be addition by subtraction.

Wow, the criticism here is something else.

Almost the entire IU roster went into the portal when Archie was fired. This is typical for most teams/players after coaching changes because they both need to recruit each other for the first time. To that, I imagine he knows he is likely to go back to college and he wants to play on a competitive team, or maybe he is worried about playing time. If its PT, then CDD either values his talent to want to offer reassurance in his place or he would rather not. If IU looks competitive and the roster is such that MM feels he has a chance to compete for conference and national titles, he may want to return. I leave that decision up to CDD and MM.

None of this is to say CDD is or isn't interested or MM is or isn't truly considering a return, but I would like to think most of the kids would want to be in the portal, no strings attached, and allow the coaches to talk them into coming back or moving on.

Good luck to Mgbako. I hope he succeeds wherever he lands. I still think he has a shot at the NBA if someone can get him to focus and dial in his shot, his form is pretty.

I agree, especially since there's probably a mutual understanding after their meetings. I'm optimistic for anyone who decides to stick around as that means they've passed DeVries check.

He said he's gonna test the waters of the NBA. Me suspects he will find those waters to be icy cold to a player of his skills or rather lack thereof.
Frozen solid actually. That comment tells you exactly how self-unaware this kid was. The only waters he's testing are the ones he's selling in bottles to the fans as a vendor.

Dude has a pretty jump shot especially when he moves to his right, but he doesn’t play defense and avoids contact at all cost.
