Memorial Stadium renovations coming?

Doesn’t matter? The problem is IU is so far behind. Like not even top 50. It does matter and I’m going to say this will be addressed very soon.
You keep harping on this - that we're so far behind. I doubt you've ever been to any other B1G sites and seen them up close. PSU's stadium is a dump - little more than an erector set.

We've got a superb coach locked in for the next 8 years. He's proved you can win big at IU with what we've got.

I agree we need to improve facilities, but we're not as far behind as you think.

Not talking stadiums🤔. I’m talking football only facilities. Training, nutrition, practice..etc. Been to ND, Tennessee, South Carolina. Michigan and Michigan state. Yes we are behind in the practice facility department. Our stadium does need work but don’t act like it doesn’t matter. I can only imagine what our indoctrinated alumni say. PSU is addressing this with 50 million in renovations too.

Notre Dames practice facility is one of the more impressive buildings I've ever been in. And I've toured A LOT of new business related facilities, factories, etc... I can't fathom what a 17 year old kid would be thinking at the idea of getting to spend most of their days in that building. Its almost laughable the gap between that facility and Mellencamp. Our new high schools sports activites center is quite a lot nicer than Mellencamp is.

Every P4/5 school either built new or are planning too. We aren’t even close. It was behind and outdated when it was built.

These projects were all planned/funded prior to the NIL era. Urban Myer's comments are also skewed to the pre-NIL era.

In today's world, the $100+ million would have a much more profound impact being put in an NIL fund. than being spent on a flashy, unnecessary facility. Ask any employee whether they would prefer to work in a premium office space or get paid significantly more? This is the same idea.

Both will be impactful. And we don't get to use ALL of the swell of revenue from the TV contracts and stuff for NIL. The time is now to strike while the iron is hot. And I think your NIL point, with regards to donor revenues, is all the more reason to incorporate Sports medicine facilities, sports media facilities, etc... Much better chance to get a significant chunk of money from a guy like Mark Cuban, as an example of one of IU's potential whales...but much better chance if you tap in to things he's passionate about, like Sports management and sports media. That's how you get 500 million for a facility, and keep the NIL revenue streams engaged and pumping in money too.

Yeah sure. So 4 years of NIL and all these projects were all planned. Even the ones at Penn state? I’ll die on this hill. No way only NIL will get us there.

Have you ever been to Nippert? It's a nice stadium and all, but entering at the top and walking down to your seats is a BITCH, especially for us old guys. I've never seen stairs that steep.

The top area is nice, but I prefer our entrances, where you can take ramps to the top level or go in at mid-level for lower level seats.

When we played UC last, I had no desire to take those stairs to even go to the bathroom.
I was specifically referring to their suites that run from 10 yard line to 10 yard line. I just did a quick google for stadiums near our size and then started looking at pics. MS badly needs a new press box, and I think they should build suites from end zone to end zone when they do it. I was just using UC as a model because it fit with our size and what I want to see with suites and a new press box.

The football sports medicine facility in Memorial Stadium is less than 10 years old, and is being continually upgraded. Cuban has already made a significant donation to create the Cuban Center in Assembly Hall. I guess I don't see how putting these things under one roof would be a worthwhile investment - especially when we can be using the funds on NIL.

What Michigan is doing with NIL right now should scare everybody - the price to compete with the big boys for top notch recruits is about to skyrocket.

Penn St is starting a $700,000,000 stadium renovation after the season ends.

Yeah, I know and I agree. I just couldn't believe how steep the steps were

I just hate the bowls sunk into the ground like that. I felt like I was in a hole. lol

I've said for years our press box is way out of date and looks ridiculous now. The days of the big press boxes are over and suites are the thing. I agree - make the entire length of the field with suites on both side. Replace the press box and put in a row of suites.
