If you are an IU fan and can not appreciate him you are clueless. Someone on here mentioned him never being Keady. I love Gene Keady, but Painter is way more polished in terms of schematics and he handles personnel well too. I loved Keady and him being demanding, but Painter is in this day and age as well. He just isn't as demonstrative. Could you imagine if Painter was not in that loaded class and He ended up at IU, and the torch was passed? (I am well aware of Knight not going for that. And the Pat dynamic) Painter would of killed it here the last 20 plus years. For the love of god I hope they figure it out. It is hard to fathom how long this disaster has lasted.
He’s terrified that IU will get it right this time and has gravy boat will dry up. He’s landed so many good recruits purely due to our own poor coaches. Hopefully that soon changes.

I love Matt Painter. He’s what good in the sport. I hate Purdue but Matt Painter is real.

Archie told him he'd be a 4 or 5 at IU, and that they would use him like they were using Race and Trayce. He fancied himself as a 3. Painter said he could play the 3 at Purdue, so he signed up.
5 years later...he's a 4 or a 5 at Purdue.
I still remember the videos of him beating Joey Brunk in one-on-one during his visit.

I'm sorry, come again? The last 3 seasons have been arguably Purdues best 3 year run as a program.....and Painter is .500 vs. IU.
Maybe he means in overall accomplishments. Obviously no one is happy to be 500 against Purdue with our overall results.
Yep. Renn is the only kid on that team I really like. He is a sweet four and doesn't sob and cry after every play the way the rest of the team does.
So, so tired of fans taking the blame. Our season has essentially flamed out, and our coach is "retiring"/let go at seasons end, and the Hall was packed yesterday and the crowd looked and sounded great. The alternative at just about every other program is empty seats and fans don't show up. Happened at PU in the down years spanning Keady/Painter to the point they cancelled their midnight madness and never restarted, and were probably drawing 6-8K a game. How was the Yum Center last year; did they have a crowd and energy late in the year like yesterday? I personally was in the Dean Dome a couple years after a NC and it probably had 10-13K fans, many of whom were wearing red. IU fans have continued to turn out and support our team with terrific #s and energy, despite a bad product on the floor. Worry about your own team Matt, that appears to be plenty to occupy you right now.
He's obviously a stand up kid too, having kept his commitment even after he was apparently duped by Painter.
I'm surprised every time I see Furst, with how little he's developed at Purdue.
