Matt Painter Sends a Message to IU Fans...

I'm not sure Painter could've had the career he's had anywhere else but Purdue. There were some years there where a lot of schools wouldn't have been patient. I doubt he's getting any grief right now but at some point it's coming and he knows it. The post Smith-TKR years???

I actually did like Painter’s point about the fanbase thinking the incoming players were going to be the next “Scottie Pippen” and then went into to say “no, they are good college players.”

He hit the mark on that and summed up nicely with that point all of this extreme hype and nonsense that went on all preseason (some from our own media people) talking about these guys and proclaiming guys like Myles Rice the “best point guard they had seen in years.”

And then reality hits and it’s revealed the kid cannot shoot.

He realizes his own fanbase has its element of those types. They post over here. Painter probably knows their handles.

You dumbass, it’s Basil Fawlty you’re talking to. Remember? I TOLD you on the football board. ****ing WiscHoosier in the post-RMK firing pitched battles on this board and all that? Peegs created the OTF so he could boot our asses over there? You were part of the problem right along with me. Ya straight bussin.

WTF, man?

This really cuts bruh no cap frfr.

DAMN.
Are you the same Radio that Cuba Gooding Jr played the part of in 2003? You seem a little sloooowww

I agree with most of what Matt said, i.e. supporting the coach & team through bad times as well as good times. That's generically true.
However, I think he's missing the context of our fan base's situation. It's easy to offer support when the bad times are short-lived and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. When the disappointment lasts for years/decades with no hope in sight, then the frustration boils over and we want change.
It reminds me of injuries during my prime years when I stayed positive because I knew the timeline of working through the injury and getting back to 100%. Now much later I have some health issues that may or may not get resolved in an unknown length of time and it's frustrating.
