No targeting them or embarrassing public talk about accountability. We said that way back. Just a couple of changes that send the message. Both sides of the ball.

Actions speak louder than words. Allen needs to stop talking.

Start Lucas at RB. We’re worst in the league in giving up sacks WITHOUT a him, so do I care if people say he needs work on picking up a blitz? No. His positives outweigh his negatives. Plus, Maryland is behind Illinois and Michigan in rushing defense. See if the changes give us a run game spark.

Camper is no. 2 in league games In yardage - No. 13 in receptions. Wear him out against Maryland.

Start McCullough.

Shut up and put up.

I hope Carey finds some young OL who are chomping at the but to go down swinging who may have not been getting a look under status quo lens of Hiller. No job theoretically should be safe on starting OL, especially if it’s detected the EFFORT isn’t there.

Id play Henderson & Lucas more, Shivers the change of pace third back.

McCollough more too.

Truly believe if IU can go from 2 & 14 on third downs to 6 & 14, extend more drives and at least put up mor FGs consistently (versus punting only or a TO) IU can stay in more games.

They were tied going into third vs Neb. Only down 7 into 4th vs UM, and Cincinatti game even had chances in second half, but offense has not been able to perform 2nd half. Improve the OL enough for 10-14 more points and they may pull some out.

In Carey we now Trust!

The third down figures are poor because we’re lousy on first and second down, putting s in too many third and long situations. That’s a much narrower play book. Some of that is Bell not delivering on the running game he touted (spread formation and wider splits to creat running lanes), some of it is a streaky quarterback with a low completion percentage, and some of it is drops by receivers. All of that must improve if third down percentage is to improve.

Play young guys on the OLine. We've seen the old guys and it's a horror show.
The young guys who got time Saturday really had trouble. All for playing them, but that’s going to be a monumental work in progress.

Camper is done.
Lucas would not last 20 plays.

I like Lucas at WR with Henderson or Shivers at RB especially with DJ out.

In his 6th year a Coach Allen trademark has been his reluctance to make changes imo. He has often said in a press conference "we need to get him more touch's" i.e. Ronny Walker, Tim Baldwin, etc. and it never happens. You are right he needs to stop talking and do it. He pointed out that Lucas has blocking issues, but he wasn't recruited for his blocking skills and touched the ball only 7 times last Saturday.

Bazelak has done the best he can with a run for your life OL and I do not wish to fault him. But his completion % is terrible and he has missed some really important game changing throws including a certain TD pass overthrown Saturday in the first half. At no time in the last half the last two games when we completely bogged down did Allen consider Tuttle. Put him in for a couple series and see what happens as you can always put Bazelek back in, and maybe even a better performance. l think coach Allen has a stubborn streak and if that is true, he is hurting us. He has accomplished some really good things but in a sixth year we continue to make the same mistakes.

Maryland is very good, and we will need a best effort.

My only criticism of Bazelak right now is that when there is pressure - which is often - he does not extend the play and MAKE a play. He throws it away quick, which is so,e times smart, and always much better than a INT. I think Tuttle might extend and MAKE plays, but that doesn’t show in practice, where you can’t hit a QB anyway.

You CANNOT know how a kid plays in GAMES until you play him in GAMES.

The idea that it took us 6 games to see Lucas is a shame. Too rigid in personnel? Protecting too much?

We’re 3-3/1-2 and our back is against the wall. Playing safe is out the door.

What could possibly go wrong starting a bunch of Freshmen O linemen in the Big Ten? Give them a rah rah speech, bang their heads on some lockers, and throw them out there huh? Really light that fire.

At worst it would be status quo.

The upside being potential future players.

The coaching staff saw Tuttle last start in a couple of games last year, and obviously didn’t see much of an improvement this yr, hence the reason why BAZ is playing. They know what they have in Tuttle and are not playing him so that tells you alot

Coach Allen turns the offense over to his OCs and they are the ones that make the decisions. Coach Allen's fault, if any on offense, is not stepping in and telling the OC to do what coach Allen wants to happen. I would prefer coach Allen to not be involved in the offense but understand he can still establish trends he wants to see.

Shouldn’t the head coach be involved in the entire team?

We saw what happened when TA managed the offense last year right down to calling plays. He is doing what he needs to be doing.

You would think so but I think coach Allen's management style is to let his coaches coach. I would like to see him step in and make suggestions IE orders when he wants something different. The example he had here at IU was coach Wilson turning the defense over to coach Allen with no input into what he was running.

Bazelak's pocket presence hasn't been good at all, and we don't roll him out much.

the QB and the OC need to help the OL some too, and they don't.

as for Lucas, though we don't want him getting blown up blocking, he should be dangerous as heck on screens and short passes, which they'll have to account for.

he absolutely needs more touches.

i made my feelings known all spring and summer regarding McCully, and they haven't changed in the slightest since.

no spring game, no open scrimmages, and total radio silence so we could be top secret regarding the offense.

the offense seems awfully vanilla to be so secretive.

as for Dexter Williams, which no one has ever seen, ever, i've finally figured out he's Allen's Ivan Renko.

he obviously doesn't actually exist.
