In a perfect world, the President will appoint someone more palatable to the party that controls the senate.
Instead of Garland, Obama should have nominated someone like ACB for example. Still a left leaning judge, but one you can steal some Republican votes for.

I tend to like ACB’s general disposition. And the Catholicism is always a huge plus. Looks great for a woman her age with so many kids.

Not so. There are women in politics and law that are probably commendable, none really coming to mind at the moment but I’m sure there are.

The irony of British politics has always been that the women have more balls than the men.
But there is definitely an American woman in politics and/ or law that we should hold up as an example. I will just have to get back to you on who exactly that is.

A lot of people feel America is headed on the wrong trajectory. Regardless of political party in power, who you voted for etc. Maybe even a majority of people.
There is a fix in my opinion. Pretty much all functioning societies in human history practiced it up until the last century or so.
But I suppose we’re more “enlightened” and “know better”

We take for granted the geopolitical stability and creature comforts of our time. Technological advancement is a great thing. The respite in world wars has been a great thing.
Are those things attributable to women in politics and government however? I don’t believe you could make a compelling case for that.

I think they are attributable to continued development of a relatively liberal and mostly secular society that was given a huge boost at the beginning by some timely industrial developments. I don't think they have anything to do with women in politics and government, except to say that the same open society that allowed these advancements also necessarily leads to higher degrees of freedom an access to power for women.
There are still plenty of societies on this planet right now which practice the type of restricted gender roles you're advocating. Do you aspire to be more like them?

Logically, I look at said equality and can’t come to any other conclusion than it being a detriment to society.
So you think Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc., would be even more messed up if they gave political rights to women? Because I see no evidence in the world today or throughout history to support your "logic."
The answer likely lies somewhere in the middle. Married women with children should be allowed to vote for sure (even if that means more ACB’s).
But the masses of unmarried, childless women are undoubtedly a detriment to Western politics.
Probably looking at that more women identify as liberal or independent compared to their male counterpart.
