LHP Ryan Kraft is on the mound with Schuyler behind the plate and Kraft has an ERA of 5.57 and a WHIP of 1.57 in 21.0 IP. He has 22 Ks to 7 BBs, and an OBA of .302. Kraft has given up 11 extra base hits to include two doubles, three triples, and six homers.

LHP TJ Schalageter is on the mound for the Cards and he has an ERA of 2.53 and a WHIP of 1.03 in 10.2 IP. He has 9 Ks to 2 BBs and an OBA of .229.

The batting order is Wiggins, Taylor, Dickerson, Hanley, Cerny, Malamazian, Denny (DH), Moore, and Schuyler.

It's 55 with mostly cloudy skies.

T1st:

Kraft walked the first batter of the game on a 3-1 count.

A groundout got the first out with the runner on 1st moving to 2nd. The runner stole 3rd with one out.

A throwing error by Cerny allowed a batter to reach 2nd with a run scored and one out. A flyout retired the side.

B1st:

Wiggins flied out to lead off. Taylor grounded out on an attempted bunt with Dickerson also grounding out as IU goes down in order.

End of 1st: Cards 1 IU 0

T3rd:

It was the middle of the order up with Kraft being relieved by RHP Aydan Decker-Petty with an ERA of 8.10 WHIP 1.65. D-P puts them down in order with all on groundouts.

B3rd:

It's the bottom of the order up for IU with Denny (DH) leading off. Denny Kd and Moore walked on four pitches to give IU their first base runner with one out.

Schuyler flied out for the 2nd out with the top of the order up. Louisville went to the bullpen and brought in LHP Casen Murphy with an ERA of 3.24 and a WHIP of 1.80.

Wiggins, who has really been struggling at the plate, Kd to end the inning.

End of 3rd: Cards 1 IU 0

D-P faced the 3 thru 5 hitters and he got the leadoff hitter on a flyout and the next batter on a groundout for two outs. A K got the last out and D-P is off to a great start with back-to-back 1-2-3 innings.

B4th:

It's the 2 thru 4 hitters up with Taylor leading off. Taylor singled to put a man on.

Dickerson doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd and no outs with Hanley up.

A WP scored Taylor with Dickerson taking 3rd. Hanley walked on four pitches to put runners on the corners with no outs.

The Cards went to the bullpen and brought in RHP Jake Schweitzer with an ERA of 4.26 and a WHIP of 1.11 in 6.1 IP, and he faced Cerny.

Cerny Kd for the first out.

Another WP scored Dickerson to make it IU 2-0 and Hanley taking 2nd with one out and Malamazian at the plate. Malamazian Kd for the 2nd outs.

Brenczewski came in to pinch hit for Denny. Brenczewski singled to bring in Hanley to make it 3-0 IU.

Brenczewski moved to 2nd on another WP in the inning and two outs.

Moore singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs. Schuyler walked on four pitches to load the bases.

It was the top of the order up with Wiggins at the plate. In what was probably a lefty vs lefty move, the Cards brought in LHP Colton Hartman with an ERA of 14.85 and a WHIP of 3.00 in 6.2 IP.

Wiggins walked on four pitches to bring in a run and the lead was 4-1.

Taylor Kd to end the inning.

End of 4th: IU 4 Cards 1

IU brings in a struggling RHP Henry Brummel with an ERA of 11.12 and a WHIP of 2.47 in 5.2 IP. I don't know, but Mercer doesn't seem to care that this game is important to IU, at least it is to me. Brummel faced the 6 thru 8 hitters.

Brummel walked the leadoff hitter on a full count and that was it for him with LHP Grant Holderfield replacing him with an ERA of 6.60 and a WHIP of 1.60 in 15.0 IP.

A FC got the runner at 2nd for an out. A lineout got the 2nd out with the runner still at 1st. A groundout retired the side as Holderfield put them down in order after taking the mound.

B5th:

It's the 3 thru 5 hitters up with Dickerson leading off and IU went down in order.

End of 5th: IU 4 Cards 1

Holderfield was back out there. He got a flyout for one out but then gave up a single. A passed ball sent the runner to 2nd. A single scored a run. Louisville got runners to 2nd and 3rd with two outs with an error being charged to Moore at 3B, but a groundout retired the side.

B6th:

It's the 6 thru 8 hitters up with Malamazian leading off. The Cards went to the bullpen and brought in RHP Jack Brown with an ERA of 5.57 and a WHIP 1.81 in 21.1 IP.

Malmazian Kd. Brenczewski grounded out for the 2nd out. Moore singled to put a runner on with two outs.

Schuyler Kd to end the inning.

End of 6th: IU 4 Cards 2

It was the bottom of the order up and RHP Pete Haas came in out of the pen and he had an ERA of 5.68 and a WHIP of 1.47 in 19.0 IP. Haas got the leadoff hitter on a groundout. A flyout got the 2nd out. A K retired the side in order.

B7th:

It's the top of the order up with Wiggins leading off and he continues to see his batting average sink with the slump he is in. The Cards went to the pen again and brought in LHP Justin West with an ERA of 10.35 and a WHIP of 2.00 in 13.0 IP.

Wiggins Kd to lead off. Taylor grounded out. Dickerson walked on a 3-1 count to put a man on with Hanley up.

Hanley Kd to end the inning.

End of 7th: IU 4 Cards 2

Haas faced the top of the order and he got the leadoff hitter on a groundout.

Haas then walked a man on with a full count and the tying run at the plate.

A flyout got the 2nd out with the runners still at 1B.

A bunt single put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Back-to-back errors allowed Louisville to tie the game at 4-4 with a runner at 3rd and two outs. All of this happened after two outs and IU has five errors on the game.

A two-run homer gave the Cards at 6-4 lead with four runs scoring after two outs. What a disaster of an inning.

LHP Ryan Rushing came in for Haas and this inning is on horrible fielding and not Haas who didn't deserve this.

Rushing walked the first batter he faced and Mercer went to the bullpen and brought in RHP Jacob Vogel who pitched 0.2 IP against USC and 1.0 IP on the season and his stats are zero across the board.

Vogel walked the first batter he faced on a full count to put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs.

A groundout retired the side.

B8th:

It's the 5 thru 7 hitters up and this game is looking a lot like the last game of the USC series where IU failed to score in the last five innings of the game and IU is coming close to duplicating that.

Both Cerny and Malamazian grounded out for two outs. Brenczewski popped up to end the inning as IU went down with a whimper.

End of 8th: Cards 6 IU 4

Vogel faced the top of the order. He got the leadoff hitter on a flyout. Vogel then hit a batter to put a runner on.

A bunt single put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out. A flyout got the 2nd out with the runners holding.

A K retired the side.

B9th:

IU is down to their last three outs with the 8 thru 1 batters up with Moore up. Moore reached on a throwing error and made it to 2nd on the error. Stadler came in to pinch hit for Schuyler.

Stadler fouled out to 3B for one out. Koskie came in to pinch hit for the struggling Wiggins and he walked on four pitches to put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out with Taylor up.

Taylor Kd and IU was down to their last out. Moore and Decker took 2nd and 3rd. Dickerson was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs and Hanley up.

Hanley Kd to end the game.

Final: Cards 6 IU 4

What can you say about this game? For the second straight game, IU took a lead in the first four innings and then went scoreless over the last five innings of the game, losing both games. IU had five errors which were more than what runs (four) and hits (four) they had in the game.

Louisville outhit IU 6 to 4. Moore was the only multi-hit player for IU and he had two of IU's four hits going 2 for 3.

Mercer used seven pitchers in the game with none going more than two innings and they gave up just two earned runs over the game. Haas got dealt a bad hand and should have been out of the 8th inning surrending just one run with IU still having the lead, but the fielding turned into a modern day Keystone Cops routine with the four runs scored being unearned and they were scored after two outs.

As it was pointed out, IU had five errors to two for Louisville, and there were other defensive miscues.

This team right now can forget about the Field of 64 and needs to worry about qualifying for the B1G tourney.

That was some goofy ass baseball from the Hoosiers tonight. Spring baseball at the Bart can be rough, but tonight's effort was disappointing.
