It was the middle of the order up with Cerny leading off. Cerny grounded out and Malamazian K for two outs.

Brenczewski singled to put a runner on with two outs. Koskie flied out to retire the side.

B2nd:

Haas faced the middle of the order and he Kd the leadoff hitter. A single put a man on with one out.

A K got the 2nd out with the runner on 1st stealing 2nd. Haas then walked a batter on a 3-1 count to put runners at 1st and 2nd.

After three straight Ks, Haas was having trouble finding the plate and he walked another batter to load the bases with two out.

T3rd:

It was the 8 thru 1 hitters up and Will Moore led off for IU and Moore Kd.

Stadler walked on a full count to give IU their 2nd base runner of the game with one out.

Taylor doubled with Stadler scoring on a throwing error by 2B, and Taylor reached 3rd on the error. The run was unearned.

Dickerson grounded out to the pitcher with Taylor holding at 3rd and two outs. Hanley Kd to retire the side.

B3rd:

LHP Anthony Gubitosi relieved Haas and he had an ERA of 5.65 and a WHIP of 1.64 in 14.1 IP and he got the leadoff hitter on a flyout. He then walked a batter on a full count.

Gubitosi then sent the runner to 2nd on a WP. Another full count walk put runners on corners after another WP.

A pop out kept the runners on the corners with two outs.

A two-out, three-run homer gave the Illini a 3-1 lead, and Gubitosi's control problems really hurt IU.

A flyout ended the inning.

End of 3rd; Illini 3 IU 1

B4th:

It was the bottom of the order up and LHP Ryan Kraft came in for Gubitosi. Kraft had an ERA of 4.85 and a WHIP of 1.46 in 26.0 IP. Kraft got a groundout for the 1st out. Koskie flied out on the first pitch to him. Moore was hit by a pitch to put a runner on.

Stadler popped up for the 2nd out and Moore still at 1st. Taylor flied out to retire the side and IU is doing practically nothing at the plate so far in this game and we are just over halfway through the game.

B5th:

Kraft was back out there and it was the 2 thru 4 hitters up for the Illini and he put them down in order all on Ks.

End of 5th: Illini 3 IU 1

Dickerson led off and tried to bunt his way on and was thrown out. For whatever reason, IU is going after a lot of first pitches from a guy who has had command problems.

Hanley Kd for two outs and Cerny singled to put a runner on.

Malamazian walked on a full count to put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Brenczewski grounded out to retire the side. IU has outhit the Illini 3 to 2 but are down 3-1.

B6th:

Kraft was back out there to face the 5 thru 7 hitters and he got the leadoff hitter on a groundout.

Kraft got the 2nd out on a flyout, but then gave up a triple to put a man in scoring position.

Kraft then gave up a walk on a full count to put runners on the corners with two outs. A groundout ended the inning and the two-out triple did no damage.

End of 6th: Illini 3 IU 1

It's the bottom of the order up with Koski leading off. IU is down to their last three innings and they have done practically nothing at the plate so far and the Illini starting pitcher is still out there and is at 90 pitches.

Koskie Kd and Moore flied out on the first pitch he saw for two outs.

Stadler walked on a 3-1 count with the top of the order up in Taylor. Taylor flied out to retire the side.

B7th:

Kraft was back out there to face the top of the order. Kraft got a K and a groundout for two outs. As single put a man on. A groundout ended the inning.

End of 7th: Illini 3 IU 1

It was the 2 thru 4 hitters up with Dickeson at the plate. The Illini went the bullpen and brought in LHP Zach Bates with an ERA of 2.08 in 13.0 IP. Dickerson Kd to lead off and Hanley followed with another K.

Cerny walked on a full count with two outs.

Malamazian singled to put runners on the corners, and IU is possibly one clutch hit away from tying this game.

Denny came in to pinch hit for Brenczewski.

Denny singled to bring in Cerny to make it 3-2 Illini with runners on the corners and two outs.

Koskie reached on a FC with Denny out at 2nd to retire the side.

B8th:

RHP Jacob Vogel came in for Kraft and he had an ERA of 2.08 and a WHIP of 1.38 in 4.1 IP, and he faced the 6 thru 8 hitters. He got the leadoff hitter on a flyout. He then got a pop up for the 2nd out.

Vogel then gave up a two-out single. Another single put runners at 1st and 2nd with two outs.

A third straight single after two outs scored a run to make it 4-2 as the Illini got an insurance run.

A groundout finally ended the inning.

End of 8th: Illini 4 IU 2

A no-show by the IU hitters lost this game. The pitching was pretty good except for one big mistake on a pitch in the 3rd that resulted in a three-run homer which was the difference in the game.

The Illini outhit IU 7 to 5 but they didn't hit the ball particularly well either. There were no multi-hit players so no need to go through that since IU had just one RBI and the other run scored was unearned after an error by the Illini.

IU used four pitchers in the game.

Haas - 2.0 IP, 1 hit and no earned runs, 5 Ks and 2 BBs with the rest of his slate clean.

Gubitosi - 1.0 IP, 3 hits to include a three-run homer for 3 earned runs, no Ks and 2 BBs along with 2 WPs.

Kraft - 4.0 IP, 2 hits to include a triple, no earned runs, 4 Ks and 1 BB with a hit batter.

Vogel - 1.0 IP and he gave up three straight singles after getting two outs for an earned run. He had no Ks or BBs and the rest of his slate was clean.

IU had no errors while the Illini had one which allowed IU to score an unearned run.
