Unlikely. UNC has an incredible brand and they won’t want to associate it with DV, which fair or unfair comes with Beard.Since he went to Iowa.
Also, what are the odds UNC fires Davis and comes around on hiring Beard?
I would have hired both of those guys over DeVries. But now that its went down, I'm still excited for what DeVries can bring to IU. He's a program flipper himself. If we can avoid looking over the fence at other pastures, I think we'll probably enjoy the hell out of the DeVries IU program.Since he went to Iowa.

I’m anxious to see what DeVries will do. It wasn’t until we hired him that I realized he’s the one who got Drake going before McCollum took over. I’m not looking it up but I’m curious how much of DeVries’s team stayed to play for McCollum this past season. Obviously his son wasn’t there anymore. As I have previously mentioned, Davis gets one more year with a dedicated boost in NIL to build a championship caliber team.Since he went to Iowa.

I agree UNC is unlikely.Unlikely. UNC has an incredible brand and they won’t want to associate it with DV, which fair or unfair comes with Beard.
Their brand is associated with a 40 year academic scam..and now with an AD , who got a $104K bonus for UNC making the NCAAT; On top of that..UNC didn't play the usual Tues/Thurs slate.Unlikely. UNC has an incredible brand and they won’t want to associate it with DV, which fair or unfair comes with Beard.
CB keeps winning, amd selective memory will take over. The old, " Well it's been 5 years since....".I agree UNC is unlikely.
I could see WV having a go at Beard, but seems to be a lateral move for Beard. Beard may just stay where he is. Seems like all the openings are lateral moves or slightly better than lateral.
Oh..Sorry. Didn't know you had the privilege of sitting in on such discussions.yea well that’s how UNC thinks when it comes to CB
Not so fast my friend. UNC's always been good at looking the other way.Unlikely. UNC has an incredible brand and they won’t want to associate it with DV, which fair or unfair comes with Beard.
I think he could get a job like Arkansas after Cal leaves. Maybe Florida if that opened up. After a stint at that sort of place that goes well, then he could get a shot at the really big jobs.I agree UNC is unlikely.

Self has another “down” year at Kansas…I think he could get a job like Arkansas after Cal leaves. Maybe Florida if that opened up. After a stint at that sort of place that goes well, then he could get a shot at the really big jobs.
I believe only 2 players stayed. Not sure if they were any of this years main rotation guys, or not. I know McCollum brought 4 NWMS guys with him, and they all played a lot, and he brought in a couple Wyoming transfers, who played a lot.I’m anxious to see what DeVries will do. It wasn’t until we hired him that I realized he’s the one who got Drake going before McCollum took over. Yea, that job may open up. He's been there forever, he's got some health issues, and I hear he is a little frustrated with KU's push into FB. Maybe he retires sooner rather than later or does a Cal and takes another job? I don't think KU would go for Beard, if they do I'll be wrong about the whole brand risk thing.Self has another “down” year at Kansas…
TH, that’s an interesting comment regarding KU. I would expect they would be motivated to get Beard.Yea, that job may open up. Honestly, I think Self probably has one more "run" in him at Kansas. They'll move on from Dick inson...I'm sure. Self's relative struggles of late directly coincide with the arrival of the OG highly paid mercenary portal guy. He's the poster child for how NOT to use the portal. Unfortunatly, Mike Woodson has that poster hanging above his bed.Yea, that job may open up. If UNC opens up next year who do you think is on their list?Oats
I think they'd make Nate Oats and Scott Drew say no. Mark Byington is probably a name I'd keep an eye on, especially if he kills it at Vanderbilt again this year. He's a regional guy with ties to the state. McCollum could be another guy they look at.If UNC opens up next year who do you think is on their list?
Calipari, or even Pitino for 3-4 years. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pitino coach until he’s 80. Other than that, Oats. Of McCollum shows up and shows out at Iowa next year, he could be on that list. Like finishes top 3-4 in the B1G and wins a tournament game…I could see UNC pushing for him. And he’s young enough to be there 20 years. If UNC opens up next year who do you think is on their list?
Hubert is a better coach than CMW, and I think UNC is doing for him this coming year what we tried with CMW this past year: give him a big NIL bank and see what he can do. Surprisingly UNC apparently was behind on NIL and didn't have it put together. They really wanted Cliff Omoyuri (sp?) from Rutgers but got outbid by Bama. Supposedly they've gotten donors to commit some $$ to make them more competitive and are going to try and run it back with Hubert. Ultimately, I don't think he's the guy, but he has been able to get them to play hard and make some impressive comebacks, just not sure why they come out so lethargic that puts them in big holes to begin with.Since he went to Iowa.
Also, what are the odds UNC fires Davis and comes around on hiring Beard?
I would be more curious about Kansas and Self. There's smoke about his exit. Don't ask me for a source. Just google it. I think Kansas is more likely to consider Beard than UNC.I agree UNC is unlikely.

Unlikely on how involved Whitten is, or would be. And I doubt there was panic involved.
I don’t understand why an Iowa fan would feel the need to say that, as if they had any knowledge of the situation in the first place.
Yeah, UNC - the cleanest brand out there.Unlikely. UNC has an incredible brand and they won’t want to associate it with DV, which fair or unfair comes with Beard.
I was intrigued by McCollum, but when I dug in, I saw that he wasn’t who actually built Drake up, but DeVries. So when everyone was assuming he would go to Iowa, I started to wonder if he was really our primary target considering comments made regarding Dolson. That fact finding mission led me to think DeVries might actually be the better coach.I’m anxious to see what DeVries will do. I think McCasland would be near the top of KU and UNC’s list since the Texas job has been filled.I would be more curious about Kansas and Self. There's smoke about his exit. Don't ask me for a source. Just google it. I think Kansas is more likely to consider Beard than UNC.
McCollum was left with nothing when DeVries left, I think he inherited one player. I would’ve been happy with either at Iowa, but McCollum’s success this year is his own. How well it translates to the B1G, we’ll have to find outI was intrigued by McCollum, but when I dug in, I saw that he wasn’t who actually built Drake up, but DeVries. At the end of the day, I imagine they are both really good coaches who, if given the right resources, can build a very competitive program with a chance to be great.
Not sure Iowa will be a true test for BM? Tough for anybody to win there in the modern eraMcCollum was left with nothing when DeVries left, I think he inherited one player. Agree on the fans but he built the entire program back. It was nothing before him. Let’s hope he does the same in his current taskBy bringing the fans back, DeVries helped McCollum.
