We were at the game earlier this week and that was our impression. Same woody ball as in previous years. They’ll win some games with the talent but there’s a ceiling
I predict 10-12 losses unless there are philosophy changes on the bench.

The relevant question is have you Googled him? Cig immediately wins at a historically bad program, while Woody is mediocre at a historically good program after 3+ years with a much smaller roster. Bottom line: Woody has no excuse. College coaching experience matters.

Now what is the chances IU basketball plays only 1 team over .500 and that one team is only a game over .500? I would say Woody would have a good chance at winning over 30 games if that was the case.
IU was 3-9 last year in football, which was part of a 3-year crappy stretch. IU basketball has a storied history, and Woody has been mediocre. Woody better have a hell of a year.
And IU won 12 games the year before Woodson came. Since Knight left we made less than half the NCAA tournaments.
We are a historic basketball program but Woodson did not inherit a historically good program. We were a bad team and program when he got here.
He will likely win 23+ games this year and hopefully gets out of the first weekend. Then you will get to watch him until he decides to retire.
Then how does Cig immediately win at a historically bad program with a roster 7 times the size of basketball? It is way, way, way, way easier to win at IU basketball in the state known for basketball: give it up!
Cig is winning right now, while Woody, according to you, "LIKELY" and "HOPEFULLY" wins in year 4. What a crock.
Give what up? How often does a turnaround like this happen in football? Almost never. It rarely happens in a year in basketball. If we compete for a Big Ten title Woodson is fine and is here to stay.

Year before Woodson was a shorter season due to Covid. Was not a good year, but 12 wins not comparable.
Good enough for me? Yes as a 1 year result. If we compete for Big Ten titles every year then deep runs will happen. I do not expect to be in the sweet 16 every single year. Nobody does that.

Fair enough but we were 2nd in the Big in one of those 3 years and 2 of the 3 years we had a major injury to our best perimeter player. If we do well this year Woodson is likely here as long as he wants.
Ok so we likely win 16-18 games… hard to tell. Doesn’t change the fact that we were a bad team when Woodson was hired.
We were coming off the 2nd worst 4 year stretch of my lifetime only beaten out by the Sampson debacle and what followed.
My point is we were bad.
So many have already made up their mind. Last year was terrible. No one disputes that. But injuries and guard depth had so much to do with it. To my mind, injuries were most of the story. As a result of the injuries, our starting guard last year was Gabe Cupps, and this year, he’s hardly even playing. I think it’s fine to hold the problem of guard depth against Woodson, that he didn’t recruit enough guards. I still think people forget the resulting personnel problems, and still want to hold it all against Woodson. This year, assuming injuries don’t play a factor, ( a big ‘if’) we can truly decide if Woody is performing well or not. 90-55 is a tremendous result, and a great start. Judging the season on one shitty half is just witch hunting.

It will be interesting to see if Ciggi’s success is sustainable in the coming seasons.
I think it is very important for IU to finish this season on a high note by beating Purdue in a big way and breaking our drought in ability to win a bowl game. With our regular season record, stellar that it is, it should be a tough matchup in a warm winter climate.
You are right that this season is not lost on one bad half BUT.....
When you see the same, IMO, poor coaching going on year after year, one bad half is an indicator to me that Woodson has not changed the way the team plays. Same poor 3 point D, same lack of fundementals, same, same, same.
I would have fired him after last year and it is going to take one hell of a good year for me to soften that position.

HoosierJimbo89 made a comment yesterday regarding a comparison between the success of Woodson and Cig so I ran with it from there, but yeah, you're probably right. The two seasons currently intertwine and that's fine on the mind of mine.
This recent tale of two halves is concerning. The first half of the basketball game was terrible, as was the second half of the football game. Let's hope these same halves don't rear their ugly little heads again anytime soon.
Those recent video lowlights of Ballo loafing were disappointing to see, as was Rourke's interception on the 9 yard line.
