Looks like Alabama has problems with Sheridan

I figured Sheridan would have learned a lot being back with DeBoer for awhile. And under Grubb. But maybe all he learned is that it's good to have a QB like Penix. So much more works then. DeBoer seems determined to pound this square peg into a round hole though.

How crazy would it be if they hired Wilson as their OC.
Sheridan and Wommack seemed like lazy hires to me.
Maybe at least put out feelers to see who might be available.
Maybe he did that but it appears he went the loyalty route and sometimes that’s a mistake,ask Tom Allen.

Wild to see them torch LSU on the road and then score three points at OU.
I wouldn’t put Wommack and Sheridan in the same category. Wommack is a proven defensive coach. By way of example, our offense frequently sputtered in the shortened 2020 “Top 10” season and he was a big reason for our success.
DeBoer, too, is a good coach but he and Sheridan definitely benefited from a healthy Michael Penix and the Penix Effect.

That's his ceiling, but it's higher than most.
I wouldn't have Sheridan as OC unless DeBoer wants to be fired from Alabama, he isn't a very good OC coach. Pull Sheridan out of OC or Alabama will let you go coach Sheridan. Fire him and get a new OC to run the offense. I want to see you stay at Alabama, listen to the fans or you will be gone. It is the reason you lost to those teams keeping you out of the CFB. We know how bad he is as OC as coach Allen listen to you and Allen had to fire him. He was running DeBoers offense not your offense.

At some point you have to hope guys who are bad coaches learn from their mistakes and fix what they do wrong. You can see that with Sark and Kiffin as head coaches. I never thought they would find success again after both failed at USC, but now are coaching at a high level although still not what I would call elite.
So, for Sheridan I think he has the knowledge and understanding of the game to be a good coach, but for some reason it doesn’t translate to success on the field. They will probably excuse away the inconsistency as being new coaches with all new players, but if I were an Alabama fan I would be concerned. Who knows though. With Deboer mentoring Sheridan maybe it will start to click soon. They did have some good games offensively. Now he just needs to be more consistent, or maybe Deboer can get Grubb to come back.

Wilson, I think, is well thought of as an OC. Tom Allen was a good DC (doing well at Penn State). But not every OC, DC, QB coach is also cut out to be good at the position right above.
I’m no great fan of Sheridan play calling, but in ‘21, he was a bit of a fall guy for season ending injuries to MP, then Tuttle, thus having to play a totally unready, McCulley. Then to add insult to injury, being paired with a horrible OL Coach in Hiller, who should have been gone after the ‘20 season when IU couldn’t run the ball. Yet, TA kept him around into the next season.
Sheridan had Tuttle with a separated shoulder or some such injury against Ole Miss, who had a terrible run defense, yet he was still too stupid to run the ball. Tried throwing it all over.
Deserved not all but plenty of the scorn he gets for his time here.

I am glad IU doesn't have to deal with Sheridan anymore; coach DeBoer has too much faith in him, and it will cost him his job if he doesn't get rid of him - just listen to the fans at Alabama.
Grubb is back for OC for Alabama and they will have a better offense than Sheridan. Euro you are wrong about DeBoer calling the plays, but he is re-echo to the QB on field. After the Oklahoma game DeBoer problem called the game against LSU. Sheridan was up in the pressbox.

Opposing DC's would piss down their leg having to match up with the DeBoer & Wilson doubleheaded offense.
I'd love to see Cignetti hire Wilson as an Offensive Consultant.
Put him in a position where he scouts the opponents defense and also "Red Teams" our Defense... (while leaving him "hands off" [no player contact] as to day to day coaching)...
It could all be done from the comfort of his current home study via the internet (thus circumventing any on campus concerns...).
Wilson appears to still hold INDIANA in high regard, I say utilize his talents...
The guy has a brilliant offensive mind...
We could/should contract him on a 9 month basis (say Spring Practice thru the National Championship Game).., Renewable yearly as the parties desire...
