Looking back, how much did the 2012 and 2013 classes slow the programs momentum?

2012
Yogi - One of the best point guards in school history. The best point guard I'm old enough to remember watching in IU history.

Hollowell - Underachieved for 2 years and transferred out of the program

Jurkin - Was probably a reach but was never healthy and transferred out of the program.

Patterson - Apparently didn't take academics seriously and never played a game for IU.

Perea - Athletic freak that never really put it all together and apparently enjoyed being the BMOC more than he enjoyed basketball. Out of the program after 3 years.

2013

Devin Davis - One of the early commits to get the program momentum rolling. Showed lots of promise but let the part scene get the best of him. Out of the program after 2 years.

Luke Fischer - Often criticized by our fanbase as being a "soft momma's boy". Would've been a helluva 3-4 year player for us but transferred out of the program after half a season for what I believe has been the main reason these two classes failed.

Hartman - The other early commit to get the momentum rolling. He's been everything that we could've hoped for. Solid player, hard worker, good student, good kid. Just a great 4 year representative for IU.

Stan Robinson - This one really went sideways for us. Never improved as a player and apparently had the same interests off the court as Hollowell.

Noah Vonleh - Another kid I think gets a bad rap from our fanbase. He was a kid with his eyes on the NBA for sure, but he wasn't the selfish, bad teammate that many made him out to be. Wanting to be in Cook Hall improving your game instead of partying isn't a bad thing.

Troy - Opinions are all over the map on Troy. Inarguably there are two Troy's. Good and Bad Troy. The problem is that the difference between the two is razor thin. But if this the last we've of Troy in an IU uniform, he's provided more good than bad.

So out of 11 commits we had 3 kids provide positive contributions for the program more than a couple years.

So what did Crean learn from this? We seem to be 3-3 from last years class with positive contributers and good kids. Is finding 3* kids like OG and Juwan along with a 4-5* kid like Bryant enough to compete with the UNC, UK, KU, etc year in and out?
