I was a sophomore in high school and when he decided to go pro, I read the Indianapolis Star every morning waiting for the headline that Jay Edwards would return to IU. I was very naive. Sad face.

I still wish (as many do) he has stayed all four seasons... Edwards as an upper classmen and Cheaney as an underclassmen on opposite sides of the court in Knights offense... 😉

MI played in AH with Rumeal Robinson (who did squat) and Jay torched them and also hit the winning shot as I remember. Dick Vitale was doing the game and he was in a love affair with Rumeal at the time. Rumeal this and Rumeal that. I sent a letter to him complaining about unfair treatment of Jay. He responded with an advertisement for his book. . I did think his treatment of Jay improved in later telecasts.
