When I was fresh out of college and working in the inside sales department of a large company with outside reps and mfr reps, one of our wily regional sales managers organized all the girls in the sales department into a "best back" contest at a after-work pool party. After getting them to flex and pose, he came back to the group of guys and whispered "best butt"... Guy was a genius.

Yeah, he was an annoying, but lovable prick!

It was a very fun environment with the people there, but the company had sort of hit it's apex, founder died, and familie's inheritance was a huge tax burden so they were forced to sell the company and that, coupled with the sales plateau didn't make for the best company culture unfortunately.

I am sure a few of you would have been yanked into the HR and warned if that happened today.

Its near impossible to say anything anymore -- walking on eggshells. Its almost like being married.

I remember once we had an internal event here -- some product show & tell. I was responsible for an internet product so I did a surf theme.
I need to hire 3 models in bikinis to 'demo' the (consumer) product with an island backdrop but by the pool of a nearby hotel where the event was being held.

Even back then, my gorgeous female marketing manager told me that it was advisable that I should not be the person making the selection/interview of the candidates. That basically killed off half the purpose of my theme/idea.

And I went to work for Cisco after that. Talk about dry... consumer products are more fun.
