Drivers are never at fault. In fact, rewards are sometimes given if the bike rider has on skin tight clothes and is sporting a beer belly. Because, everyone knows it’s the baggy clothing slowing them down 😉

Lol! All kidding aside when my drunk friends would call me about dwis I always told them not to believe the hype. They were no biggie. $750 to $1,000 and most the time you didn't lose your license for even a day. DWIs are nothing, at least the first go around.

But if you have the misfortune of being involved in a crash, or god forbid hurt someone, that's when your shit can spiral fast and why you should never drink and drive. Bad stuff

Hahaha nice!! I've unfortunately got to start another work marathon. As an aside you share this with zeke. My second psa - we all have things we share and can bond over.

There was a fantastic show called an idiot abroad. Ricky Gervais had a buddy named Karl pilkington who never wanted to do anything so Ricky made a show sending him all over the world. I loved when Karl would pack and say stuff like "no matter where I go. It doesn't matter. It's the same grey t shirt. Anyway there's a great scene where Karl is in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the world sitting by himself eating chips. As he looks over he notices a lizard. He hands the lizard a chip and they sit side by side eating chips together. Paraphrasing Karl goes "a million years apart yet we have this in common. We both like chips."

OMG the thought of sharing anything with Zeke! My favorite episode is Thomas walking around in the morning and knocking on Sheps door . Thomas had just found out he had knocked Kathryn up Shep is rubbing his eyes at noon and asking OMG did this just happen?

The driver is at fault, regardless of the state. It's really no different than if there was no bike lane, the cyclist was on the right, and the driver turns in front of the cyclist. Think about it - what is the cyclist supposed to do when someone turns right in front of their path?

(I am assuming that the cyclist was proceeding in the same direction as the car and hit the right quarter panel, front or rear, of the car.)

100% the driver. Bikers are to be treated as cars and you should thank them for helping with traffic. Check you blind spot then turn… it’s not that hard.

I dont see all those bikers firing down Milwaukee blowing through lights and stop signs making it impossible to turn in January here in Chicago. They don’t seem to be riding around on their faggy bikes then. No I’m those months it seems they have alternative forms of transportation.

If you want to ride your faggy bike in Chicago, we have 30 miles of lake front trail, go ride it there. Stay off the streets.

what if the cyclist hits the back bumper of the vehicle? obviously they saw the car turn. bikes need taken off the roads, cop said 4th car-bike incident this week

Bikers should obey traffic and stop signs/lights like everyone else. Same as cars in Chicago, but they don’t always obey the traffic grid either, so it’s kind of a wash.

As for your other comments, file them under “old fatass mad about bikers.”

Imagine all Chicago bikers adding to the already miserable congestion in Chicago by being in cars.

How dumb and lazy are you exactly? You should be thanking them but maybe you’re just an idiot?

So you're suggesting the guy decided to total his $12K bike on purpose?

Cyclist has the right of way. You lose.

And cyclists have the exact same right to be on the road as cars.

But, drivers who can't follow simple traffic rules do need to be taken off the road.

something you can't see comes from behind you and hits you in the ass after you have signaled, you're going to turn, makes no sense cars and bikes don't belong on the same road.

It's a problem. The best thing you can do is if you pass one, you never lose sight of it until you've left it far behind. I drive around Bton all day and have to be hyper vigilant.

Bikers just claim the same road rights as you:

You hit them - your fault
They hit you - your fault

You ignore them when they don’t signal - your fault
They ignore you when you do signal - your fault

not saying they don't by law, but it would be a helluva lot safer if they were in the middle of the road, there is a reason you can't fly a drone at the airport

Finally, I agree with something you said, maybe there is hope we can all unite in the good ole USA

With Colorado’s comparative negligence statute, you might skate if you had a turn signal on and the bike overtook you instead of Vice versa. If you overtook the bike, good luck.

In general, i Think bicyclists must ride where they can be seen. Then ride like you are not seen.

I won't ride on a street that has a bike lane between a parking lane and the curb. A driver cannot see you if cars or vans are parked and you cant see the moving cars from the bike lane. Denver is building those kinds of lanes now and I think they are a mistake. .

Traffic circles are also dangerous. I won’t ride in the bike/walk ramp through the circle. i always move into a traffic lane when I’m going straight or left.

At a controlled intersection, I won’t use the bike lane if a car signals a right turn and I’m going straight. I stop in the traffic lane.

sounds like you could see the same scenario as what happened, if I'm on a bike id make damn sure before I just go because the light is green
