Just learned that he was a walk-on at UAB and mainly played WR in high school. Interesting story.
If he puts up numbers even remotely close to Howard, we're definitely in business!
A quick look on YT and the few highlights felt a lot like Ellison. Deceptively "quick" with the long stride but not game changing fast; shifty as hell.

If anyone has watched the video, this kid is a spitting image of Ellison. Ellison is 5'9 210 and Beebee is 5'10 220. It feels like Ellison instinctually knows the angle and how far to lean into an oncoming hit that the end result is him being put right back into a running stance. This kid shows that same skill. On video he gets hit 4 yards before the end zone and you think he's obviously going down, but it just stands him up and it's almost like he never even lost forward momentum.
Lee averaged 6.9 ypc last year and 5.3 ypc this year, on a garbage 3-9 UAB team. He compiled over 1,100 all-purpose yards. Now imagine what he could do with an IU OL and threat of a passing game? I like that he's also a receiving back as our RB's had 27 total catches (no one over 11 on the season) and he had 30 catches himself.
I think this is the perfect nationally "unknown" replacement. He'll be a junior so we may still have him for a couple of years.

UAB transfer looks to be a hammer with wheels and wiggle carrying the ball.
I was prepared to be underwhelmed.
But he's a good player. Just seeing a few clips. Nice hands, decent power, decent speed, cuts well. As far as his build he looks to have some quads for his size, he'll break tackles. Yeah, nice pickup.

Howard put up 1500 yards his sophomore year at UAB before coming here.
Cig likes a RB by committee approach. I expect another RB will be added.

This is ridiculous. Some other team came in with a better offer. Scott needs to boost those NIL funds. Are other teams just going to try to buy off our portal commits?
Why are we calling these “commitments” when they can just change their minds?
These other coaches are poaching Cignetti's targets. His success has created a bullseye.

Not the end of the world. There are enough guys out there who will give their word and they stand behind it. I don't know the story with Beebe, so not saying he won't. Just saying there are the right guys out there.
Good weed out tool for Cig. Pretty sure the culture he demands requires backing what you say you are going to do.
It made me laugh when it popped into my head on when Belichick accepted the Jets job, before he didn't. And Josh McDaniels 'committing' to the Colts job, before he didn't. Beebe's in famous company of not keeping his word. But this one is small potatoes.

Beebe has a Penn $t guy as one of his agents (Aeneas Hawkins)...
Given a choice, I'd suggest we never deal with that guy again (Hawkins)... He's appears to be looking out for P$U's interests first...
That's right. Though Scott plays a big role in getting people to donate and he's been very good at that in my opinion.
I doubt this is a sign we're short on NIL. This guys is a small % of our total available player payroll, keep in mind rev share starts next year.
This sure looks like a player and agent shopping our offer. It sucks, but CFB is the wild west and there are no rules.
Per 24/7: "Unlike previous winters with the transfer portal, prospects will be able to sign an agreement that binds both sides when it opens.
Schools used to have to wait for a prospect to attend a class in January before he was bound to the school. That changes during this upcoming window. A prospect can now sign whenever he wants, and it binds the sides to one another."
Do we actually need to wait and see the signing announcement vs the "commitment" announcement? If these guys can sign now and they only commit, it seems like commitment announcements could sometimes be signals for other teams to up their bids. I'm just guessing, it's not quite clear to me how the committing vs. signing works.
Just eliminate the term commitment. As in many other aspects, this is more and more like the pros and now all that matters is when they are signed.
Makes me ill that college sports is dead and all we have left is minor leagues for the "professional" leagues.
Now that we're a few years in to NIL, I would think there's enough time and evidence available, that Coaches and Administrators, and the NCAA could come up with some sort of binding commitment contract.

In order to transfer, without having to sit out, you have to both enter the portal during approved times, and SIGN A COMMITMENT LETTER, during that time as well.
Commitment letters can be waived if the coaching staff changes, if there's a family medical emergency, etc... But for the most part, if you "back out" after signing a commitment letter, it comes with an automatic 1 year redshirt.
If these "kids" feel they deserve big boy money (they do), then they can take on the commitments and responsibilities normal adults take on when they get paid for work.

All the guy had to do is wait on giving his word if he wanted to negotiate more or look around longer...

This makes me wonder if something was discovered and if we pulled out. Seems odd to commit and then jump back in. Guess it will come out at some point.
Funny thing though. (Beebe)He has to attend next semester classes and then hit the spring portal. Going to be awkward.
