Kwame Evans

Yep up against big money.
Auburn and Oregon, while big money, will have it flowing mostly to football. UCLA despite its history, has an incredibly apathetic fan base and struggle to get 70% capacity in a 13k seat arena when they are good, although there’s certainly some money. Those 3 are in IUs wheelhouse to compete with.

UK on the other hand will be a real struggle

Good thing no kansas self has the best players money can buy

Looks like he hasn’t. He’s only visited UK and has Oregon on April 29th. NIL will determine this one.

I was using rivals. It said he visited 2/11 but maybe he planned on it and never did.

Unfortunately we are the least of those schools in the eyes of the typical teen. Gonna take some time to gain back what was lost.
Agree 100 percent. My only worry is do we have time? Each year we slide further down in relevance. Need to make a big recruiting splash soon with multiple guys that are ready to play day 1.

Easier said than done. JHS has opened the door for these guys. We have to find a way to get them to step in.

Absolutely agree. We need these new players and the current players to step it up and play at an entirely different level and start winning some significant games. In the past we got these high level recruits on reputation alone and we now have to do it without a good reputation. I do feel like Coach is the guy to do it. He seems very humble and likable with good basketball knowledge and experience. If he can just get this thing rolling again I feel like the personality to sustain success is there.

Recruiting is important, but getting players who will be there more than a year is more important than ranking.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

I respectfully disagree.

I would much prefer KJ Evans for one year over INSERT TYPICAL IU PLAYER NAME HERE (e.g. Rob Phinisee) for four.

Haven't we learned this by now?

If we want to be at the top of the college basketball world again, we have to have top players. There's just no getting around that. Coach Woody and staff are doing an excellent job right now making inroads at some of the more prestigious basketball prep schools/academies where the best players play.

Go Hoosiers! Go Woody! Keep it up and sign some of these alpha dogs!

It's extremely unlikely to happen, but the following lineup would be a championship level starting 5:

JHS
Bates
Banks
Evans
Reneau
We probably got a good shot at Raneau if TJD leaves but Evans seems like a long shot given all the moneny we would have to beat out to get him.

I think that forecast would be very ambitious for that group! All freshmen and one soph.......yikes.
I do hope they are that good but I won't hold my breath. I do like your thinking though. I do agree with another poster regarding Evans......I think it very unlikely we get him. I also believe Reneau is unlikely but I give it more of a chance than Evans.

They would actually be a Junior (Bates), 3 sophomores (JHS, Reneau, and Banks), and a freshman (Evans).

I said it was unlikely we get those players, but those are the types of players the big boys are rolling out.

A couple 5-stars mixed with veterans, size, and shooters is a good combo. IU has always had veteran scorers on their good teams. If Evans is the one to go after, so be it. But there is no mistaking what IU needs most and that is shooters.

In reality we will have:
JHS
Bates
Galloway
Banks/Geronimo
Duncomb/ ?

Add a strong frontcourt player and this team has potential.
I don’t think the team will look like that. Woodson knows Galloway and Duncomb shouldn’t be starting

Trayce and Race and signed NIL deals for the next year. I would expect they both return. I think our lineup probably looks more like this. We could use another big. We may have to count on Leal and Gunn for outside shooting or improvement with Bates.

X (assuming he is on the team) JHS
Bates/Galloway/Leal/Gunn
Geronimo/Kopp/Banks
Trayce/Duncomb/Geronimo
Race

Decent team there.
But, does X stay on the team? I think yes or he would be gone by now.
Does Leal improve? I doubt that.
Do we figure out how to get Kopp open and can he hit better? I am ok with Kopp leaving, especially if it means more time for Geronimo.
I really hope Geronimo does not leave. I would start him somewhere. If Trace and Race come back I would play him at the three.
Bates I do not know. Transfer? Improve?
