Keir Starmer: "We need to reduce immigration - significantly."

Well, thats a fundamental difference. I don't think Muslims from Somalia should be treated the same as people from Latin America.

Hispanics at least bring something.

Dems are the most racist people that ever existed.
Who is racist? The one that wants to treat people the same or the one that wants to treat people differently based on their race.

You keep making racist comments and calling other people racist

Competition propels us forward. If everyone sat on their ass nothing would get done.

Get your ass off that offfice chair, a new factory manufacturing job will be coming to your town soon.

Not to mention stand up construction and farm hand jobs to replace those laborers sent back to their country of origin.

Added benefit, making America healthy again and lowering health costs.

Life has thrown me some curveballs, sometimes knuckleballs, the last few years. I'm finally in a healthy position mentally and physically.

I think the thing that matters most is, are you producing something? Does it matter?

People want to feel what they are doing matters to someone.

The problem we have is shitheads elect shithead politicians thinking everyone want what we have.

Maybe they don't. Maybe they're happy. Maybe they want left alone.

This is me being biased against a conservative:

You're on double secret probation. Chill out and ratchet down the vile posts and name calling or you'll be gone. End of conversation. You start bitching, I pull the trigger.
I haven't insulted anyone or called anyone names.

SS, your remark about folks just wanting to left alone reminded me of someone.

SS, have dear friend age 56 whose life centered on his job as a high level warehouse inventory manager. His task was overseeing a supply chain which kept perishable vegetables and other products to the stores in a timely fashion.

He returned home from a high level corporate meeting for which he had spent several weeks preparing. During this prep time he ignoried a health problem and returned home to face an issue. The issue required a leg amputation from the knee down.

In 36 years in the food warehouse business he prided himself on never spending much time at a desk. He prefered walking the warehouses and observing the activities first hand.

When I last saw him he had been declared disabled given his current situation as compared to his active duties prior to the amputation.

There he was minus his usually jovial self. He sat in a wheel chair with his stump showing. His arthopedic leg was off and leaning next to his wheelchair as if he never wanted to wear it again and make himself whole.

Instead of talking about his work as we normally did, I got the impression he wanted to be left alone.

He was in a dark place which only death could end the darkness.

Competition against other people is the only thing that motivates people?

That's clearly not true.

I don't think that's a fair summation of his comment.

You're right -- competition against others isn't the only motivator. People are motivated to do what they do by all kinds of things. When I play golf, most of the time I'm motivated by improving my own scores...or putting better, or more accurate ballstriking. Has nothing to do with other people.

I'm motivated to do charitable giving primarily by the benefits for society, others, etc. But I'll claim the deduction, too.

In my business and investing, my primary direct motivation is getting a good return on investment. That involves competition (especially in the business end). But only a stupid contractor always chases having the lowest bid. If a competitor wants to do projects for low margin, I hope he fills his book with them. He can have all of those he wants.

But even the things done for gain have indirect motivations that are higher -- security for me and my family, the ability to afford the things I want to have and do, the capacity to be more charitable.

All true. Which is why the issue I’m responding to is untrue (Post 206).

Competition between humans isn’t vital to their literal survival.
