They fly below my lowest expectations.

Marc Elias, Harris’s chief election lawyer warns all lawyers not to represent Trump lest they face loss of clients, loss of firm partnerships, or official license discipline.

Pull quote:

Progressive activists are warning conservative election attorneys to avoid getting involved in litigation over the 2024 election or they will have their jobs threatened, will be targeted for disbarment, and even prosecuted.
This is deliberate interference with the attorney client relationship. It interferes with the fair administration of justice. It’s attorney misconduct. There is no way to know whether future litigation about the 2024 election has merit or not. The democrats are running this message as a political ad with the only possible intent to suppress any questions about cheating.

This message, op ed and advertising should itself subject all the attorneys involved to discipline.

There most definitely will be “questions about cheating.” It’s called campaign strategy by some.
Isn’t that piece a little premature?

It seems like the kind of thing that ought to be written after we have actual results.

David Brock is such a slimeball. Check this quote out:

David Brock, who has served in various capacities for The 65 Project, said during an interview that the purpose of the organization isn’t just to disbar attorneys, but to also “shame them and make them toxic in their communities and in their firms. … You’re threatening their livelihood.”
Whew lawdy. Well, at least he’s honest about wanting to “make them toxic in their communities.”

If he wants to go after the livelihoods of lawyers, I have some better suggestions for him.

Gotta give Trump this one. At least he had the balls to threaten his political enemies himself, publicly. He didn't run it through some snakey lawyer. Harris is amateur in all this preemptive trash talking.

He’s a POS.

These are the type of “people” you get with a Harris administration. Center for American Progress and ACLU weasels. They’ll all be climbing out from under their rocks after the election should Harris win.

Weasels. Tap out following politics

Considering the current status of people like Rudy G. and Sidney Powell, it seems like common sense advice. Minus the pledge to "shame them" of course. And I see nothing in this fringe element's position to represent democrats any more than I would claim that some KKK member saying stupid shit represents Trumpism, even if he/she were a diehard Trumper.

Lawyers shouldn’t be threatened. If they cross the line they can be disbarred like Rudy has.

It’s not disgusting that the Trump team has telegraphed their intention to contest the election should Trump lose? They have more than 100 cases ready to launch if he loses. They have no evidence of voter fraud but that’s not deterring them at all. Trump can’t exit the political scene fast enough.

Lawyers threatening lawyers with lawyerly shit and COH is outraged. This is delicious.

I don't think it's all that common a thing for lawyers to be threatening other lawyers with disbarment or social and professional ostracization simply for representing a client they don't like in a cause or action they don't support.

One of my best friends is a criminal defense attorney. He represents people charged with murder, child molestation, and all kinds of awful things. And it's a very worthy cause -- because the alternative is living in a country where people charge with crimes don't have access to due process and competent legal counsel.

His disgust is always a one way street.

We're all entitled to have our grievances heard in courts of law, Aloha. I'm certainly no fan of him or his whole thing about elections being stolen from him. But I'll certainly defend his right to bring them. If any cases he brings forth lack merit (which they likely will), then the courts should dismiss them.

Agree he can bring the cases. Agree they’ll likely go nowhere same as in 2020.

That's not their objection. It's abuse of the system and bringing false charges.

They lost every election fraud court case tied to the 2020 election, yet here they are going with the same playbook. I'd hope most of those more than 100 court cases are either thrown out or roundly defeated again and we can all put the national nightmare that is Donald Trump behind us.

Your faux outrage is laughable.

Your "pull quote" is the Tennessee Star's nonsensical spin.

The message from the op-ed writer and others is that if a Trump lawyer intends to make specious and baseless arguments in support of frivolous litigation, they should be prepared for the consequences - - like we saw in 2020. Things didn't work out too well for "America's Mayor" and others.

I think those sounding the alarm are performing a service. They may very well be saving the licenses and clean records of Trump's legal sycophants and wannabe legal sycophants.

Yeah...they should get Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell to be their spokespeople. Both are hard up for cash these days, if the number's right they'd probably do it.

I agree. But there's a process in place for this -- which takes place after the fact. To have a group out there threatening to do it, simply for lawyers bringing complaints to court, is just indefensible.

But I guess I wouldn't expect anything else out of David Brock.

I don’t see anything disgusting there. The threat of litigation serves an important purpose in keeping people in line. Reminders about that are a routine part of regulatory statute enforcement. The DOJ does it every hour of every day. So do many in the business world. Rules of procedure and many state statutes address the issue of frivolous and groundless litigation.

This is for courts to decide, UM. I'm not defending any particular legal actions Trump takes. But I'll strongly defend his right to take them.

And, Lord knows, I'm a huge proponent of courts throwing out frivolous claims. That's a part of the process. Seeking to punish lawyers for representing clients...that is most certainly not a part of the process.

Not surprising what we are hearing from the worst people on the board about this topic.

Plenty of b.s going around…like Sydney from trump’s campaign in Indiana. Nice subtle threatening posture.. trying to say my friends and neighbors will know…..**** off.

🗳️Voting records are public—your friends, neighbors, and family will know if you stood with Trump when it mattered most. 🇺🇸🔥

Hi Bradley, this is Sydney with the Indiana GOP. Tomorrow is Election Day—your 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 to make a difference. Whether or not you vote is public, and your community will see if you stood with Trump or stayed home. Don’t let your country down when our 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞.

Where's your outrage over Trump already claiming widespread election fraud, without any credible evidence?

Now that's disgusting.

The problem is, it doesn't end with the dismissal. It never ends.

One thing I'm keeping an eye on is Florida. Should Harris win the EC 270-268 expect Florida (possibly along with Texas) to file suit arguing their voters are being disenfranchised due to the massive electoral vote underrepresentation stemming from the 2020 census. The Census Bureau has come out in their own words and acknowledged that the apportionment is incorrect and Florida along with other GOP states should be apportioned more Electors and House seats than they currently have.

Where's your outrage over Trump already claiming widespread election fraud, without any credible evidence?

I’m talking about lawyers and ethics. Yeah, Elias is outrageous.

If you wanna talk about politicians and hoaxes, you have no chance. The list of hoaxes about Trump is long.

What’s disgusting is how Trump and his team have destroyed faith in our elections. Possibly permanently. I’m a strongly against voter fraud and have argued for measures to prevent it for years, but I’ve not argued that it’s so prevalent that it has changed the results of Presidential elections because it hasn’t in my voting lifetime. Trump claims he lost 2020 due to voter fraud to this day. He knows that’s a lie, but a large percentage of Republicans believe his lie. That’s our moron faction, but they’re loud about it. This is 100 percent unforgivable for me and one of the reasons I’m convinced Trump is unfit for office. The top reason remains that I’m convinced Trump is mentally unstable.

The threat of litigation serves an important purpose in keeping people in line.
Yes, and the warning of consequences for attorneys who initiate frivolous litigation, particularly with respect to something so critically important as our election system, also serves an important purpose.

Lawsuits can be a particularly powerful forum for spreading misleading information. Public officials sometimes won’t speak publicly about pending legal matters, leaving facts in an initial complaint or petition to go unchallenged in public discourse. It can be weeks before a response is filed or a hearing is held, long after a flood of initial headlines repeating the allegations in the suit. By the time a case gets thrown out, it may not get as much attention as the initial filing.

As someone else said, "A lawsuit without provable facts showing a statutory or constitutional violation is just a tweet with a filing fee." But with legalese, lawyer's signatures and a filing stamp, it has the immediate appearance of legitimacy. Good for anyone who is warning Trump's lawyers not to pull this shit again.

Yep. We need more political operators of high character returning to the scene..
