Julian Lewis will be at Michigan Game

Yup, his visit cancelled, this recruitment concerning IU is over, but we will be taking a portal QB, and I am not concerned in the least

Even if he did commit, I'd expect a portal QB coming anyway. You figure 1-2 of our QB's will leave for greener pastures. Sign of the times. Really like to know the story of CC choosing Rourke over his JMU QB who I believe was the conference POY.

Just for kicks I was looking at QBR leaders in the NCAA. I have no clue how he plays but Ben Woolridge from Louisiana is interesting. Started for a couple years but had an injury last year. Seems to have figured it out this year and the team is 7-1 with a win over wake forest. He had 69% completion rate, 16 TD, 4 INT

This is something I scratch my head over often. Jordan is also ranked nationally in the top 10 of qbr as the qb at Texas State. So, his talent shows up statistically. I have never watched him play other than the bowl game and I am not sure why he didn’t come, but glad we got Rourke.

We have a better qb coming to Bloomington on Saturday anyways. I saw Antwaan Randle El will be there. 🙂

just guessing, but he is listed as 6'0" which probably means 5'10 or 5'11"

Shelf life on QBs at any one school these days is 2 years. If they don’t get the PT and they are highly ranked, they hit the portal. It feels like the best route anymore is just to go after highly productive QBs.
Looking at the Big Ten starters this year, I think 12 or 13 of them are transfers from the portal. Veteran guys.

The kid can dominate games though. People were talking about, "watch out for Texas State" simply because they got a Heisman darkhorse at QB. If he can do that at JMU and Texas State, imagine what he could do at IU. Not to mention, he's 25 years old, so he had the "production" title under his belt. In either case, I have no room to question Cig's decisions, nor do I know if it wasn't simply the kid's decision.

Will be interesting to see who they might target in 2025 as a portal QB. Washington State QB Mateer is having a solid season and that school unfortunately will be playing in what is a new G5 version of the PAC-12. Maybe looking for a bigger conference? He’s been a good passer and has 575 yards rushing through 8 games.

Tayven will light 'em up next year if the QB room stays the same. Hopefully Cherry and Mendoza are coming along to challenge for the spot. And you can bet as many have said, Cig will know if he needs a portal QB .
Too bad Julian isn't coming, I wonder if the price was too high. But I trust in Cig, Shanahan, and Sunseri to navigate the NIL waters for the offense.

The scuttlebutt is that he wants to be guaranteed the QB starting position! Coaches Cig says no way. Recruitment is over.
If that is the case I am all with Cig. I too think Jackson in this offense will be just fine. He just needs a full time job as starter. Even Rourk was a little rusty his first three games. Give Jackson some time and he will thrive.

From what I’m hearing Jackson could get passed. I think we will be fine.

My response to that would be I will guarantee you a fair opportunity to compete for the starting position. If someone guarantees him a starting spot next year and follows through on it they are almost certain to struggle. Unless it is Ohio State, Alabama, or UGA. They are the only programs that may be able to absorb the early season challenges of having an inexperienced True Freshman QB leading their offense.

Time to move on. As someone said above, seems smitten with CU and Coach Prime. A “look at me” type, who will also demand “look at me” type NIL $ without having proven anything at this level. Let’s spread that money out instead, on some ready to play transfer OL, DL and another RB.

He was academically ineligible. He dominated the number one defense every week from the scout team and would 10000000% have started as a freshman. Same as Levron.
I remember his first game. He was spectacular. The biggest waste of such a special talent, never even made a bowl game.

Not so fast, hearing JuJu might now be visiting UGA, go figure, no matter we are done with him, but you can be sure there will be an incoming portal QB. ( which was happening even if JuJu had come here, which his camp wasn’t fond of)

Yeah, I just saw he is visiting UGA this weekend as well. I always found it strange UGA wasn’t in the conversation since he is from there. He is probably better off there than CO.

I get the feeling that a guy who starts going from school to school is bidding for his services ?

So you pay a million bucks plus, and that doesn't even keep him on the team as a sophomore.

Glad we have a QB room already.

If they stay, but guessing none have the resume to want to leave yet.

Ju Ju can take his act on the road somewhere else. Seems like a very talented kid who would be a major distraction to the locker room. Cig don’t play that.

wasn't the price.....I am pretty sure that this more Indiana moving on and tired of the drama. The money wasn't going to be an issue--it wasn't being paid by a collective....

Tayven Jackson will not be the starting quarterback next season.

Cignetti will land someone better out of the portal. Will probably get his pick of the litter as well.

I wouldn't count Jackson out.

He's gonna have a year in this offense while being coached by some of the best in the business.

It'll be a battle, whoever comes in.
