Has anyone watched Last Chance U - current season on Netflix? This season it's at Independence CC in Independence, KS - and the team for short goes by "Indy."
I "thought" this was from this last season where Juan Harris would have been playing. I'm not done with the season but in the 2-3 episodes I've seen, I have not seen him featured yet, which can be a good & bad thing. Good b/c sometimes they show the guys w/bad attitudes. Bad b/c also not seeing him be one of the guys making plays in the games.
Did anyone know if he was at Indy during the season this episode was filmed?
Like the seasons of LCU filmed in Mississippi, seemingly any player here would want to bust their butt to get back to D1 and some of the great things that go with that.
Another observation: many of these players really come from tough pasts and have very little academic bearings. You really hope they can get some knowledge to help get them on a track of a career as many seem to think "NFL Future" when the odds are likely very low for most of them (as it is for most D1 athletes too.)
Lastly, I like the coach who is a guy from Compton who has turned programs around and can "speak with authenticity" to guys from tough backgrounds. That said, his cursing and negative berating at times very publicly to players in front of the team, is not something I think is helpful and not the way Tom Allen seems to lead. And as much as this guy has turned programs around (in HS/JUCO level) and seems to come from a good intentioned place, that does seem to be an antiquated way to motivate by fear and berating versus positive teaching.
Hoping Juan Harris can max out of his opportunity 2.0 at IU for himself/his future, but also find ways to contribute on the field for IU next season.
