We shall see next year. DeVries will have his All-American son and $7M+ to spend in the portal (CBS reports), so he’s got the resources to turn this around in year one.

Mark Pope had his roster put together in 3 weeks and they are good this season. We have more NIL than Kentucky or equal. I expect the same from DeVries. No baby steps. The right coach builds a winner immediately. Kelsey at Louisville, Pope at Kentucky, Golden at Florida. We better be good next season

Dolson fired 19-13, 10-10 in the Big Ten and hired 19-13, 10-10 in a watered down Big 12. Woody arguably had a better year than DD!
I think DD had a strong turnaround year for WVU. Especially considering the injuries. I’m putting some trust in Dolson that he got the right guy.
Huggy made a FF there and is a hall of famer but he had some very average years there.

Going by his 'stats' I didn't like the hire... Going by the kudos you can find, many from other coaches, I like the hire!

His resume is similar to Underwood’s. He coached under two terrific HC’s as a longtime assistant, had great success as a mid major (Undie won two NCAA games at SFA) and then spent a year at Okie State. OSU had a terrible record in the year prior to his arrival, and then turned them into a tourney team that narrowly lost to a Michigan team that went to the FF. WVU was a deserving team and the snub may have convinced him to leave. Will he, and this would be really ironic, bring Chester Frazier (WVU Assoc. HC) and Goode’s former teammates (Hansberry and Harris) with him? How would the Gordon’s react?

That’s ridiculous. Why are people just spouting off without doing any research. What was their record last year? What was their talent level compared to us? You know they list their best player, his son, early in the year? You know they beat Gonzaga ( how’d we do against them) , beat Kansas at Kansas, beat Arizona. They were screwed horribly out of a bid. He’s known as an X and O guy, good defense and shoots lots of threes. West Va fans were not happy he left. Some of the responses here are just out of left field. We used to know basketball.

Exactly. I’ve been upset with the media talking about toxic fans, but if any coach or player was reading this board right now, that’s absolutely what they would think. And I’d be willing to bet half of these guys know nothing about him.
Different time, but some of us remember there was some pretty vocal bitching when we hired an unkown guy from Army in 1971. Said his style didn't fit the league, or the school. Bunch of other crap in a feature article in Sports Illustrated about the hire.

Yeah it’s like almost every single coach, with a few exceptions is a bit of a gamble. Coach K, almost every big name now started small. I have no idea if he’s going to be successful enough here. No one really does. But he’s known for a great work ethic, so that’s certainly a good start and I’m going to give him a chance. Why wouldn’t I?
DD finished in the middle of it: mediocre. The programs at the bottom aren't exactly basketball powerhouses.
