Love your optimism, but Ware won't be back in Bloomington next season.Sounds credible
Last year’s bracket matrix, which is a compilation of all the media predictions, slated us as a four seed. It ranked us the 15th team overall in the tournament.Yes, we were OK. I seem to recall a lot of people were surprised we were seeded that high. I just meant I don't think anyone would call last season a great one.
Why?Love your optimism, but Ware won't be back in Bloomington next season.
Why what? Be back in Bloomington? Why?
Ok, that is actually a rational argument. Woodson, Galloway, Mgbako, etc. not coming back is made up.Why what? Be back in Bloomington?
He's literally a projected 1st round pick. Why would he come back?
Why would Ware leave money on the table to come back to IU to develop into a 1st round pick.....when he's already developed into a 1st round pick? I've never understood anybody who displays this sort of illogical measure.Ok, that is actually a rational argument. Woodson, Galloway, Mgbako, etc. not coming back is made up.
Ware is projected to be a late first round pick. My prediction is that he will decide to come back another season to develop under Woodson and big NIL money. It could go either way.
We were a five seed in the tournament. Not a championship team, but also not unremarkable. We were good.
He could fall to the second round if he declares this year. That is a much different financial situation and commitment from the team than a lottery pick. Considering how much he has improved under Woodson from year one to year two, he might decide that it’s worth it to stay, improve his draft stock, and collect big NIL money. I predict the latter. Why would Ware leave money on the table to come back to IU to develop into a 1st round pick.....when he's already developed into a 1st round pick? To your first sentence, there is absolutely discussion and back-channeling taking place behind the scenes to replace Mike Woodson after this season. Will it happen? Who knows but that sentiment is not made up in the least. As far as Galloway and MM leaving/staying...who cares? Both are replaceable and both part of the reason why this year has been a major disappointment. Either of them leaving wouldn't shock me in the slightest. Why would Galloway want to return to this shit show to play out his collegiate career? MM hadn't even considered coming back to school up until the last few weeks. He will absolutely hire an agent this offseason and go through the process while keeping his collegiate and NIL options open. Saying one or both are back next year is 100% a guess.

His stock falls even more with age. He's no longer a 19 year old with a modern skillset at this stage in the game able to be drafted on potential. He's injury prone and has come up lame several other times this year. He'd have to receive some absolutely terrible financial advice to come back to Indiana as he'd be leaving at minimum $12-15 million of guaranteed money on the table, money that dwarfs any NIL compensation he'd receive returning to college. He could fall to the second round if he declares this year. Since you stated that he would be guaranteed $12-15 million dollars, the onus is on you to prove that is true. His stock falls even more with age. I'm starting to sense this might be a parody account. Change my mind.
This is a joke right? This team will be flipped on its axis next year.He could fall to the second round if he declares this year. The onus on me? The last pick in the 1st round is guaranteed ~$12mil over the shelf life of his first contract. Unless you think there's no way he's getting drafted in the 1st round next year, he would be foolish to return to Indiana. And returning to Indiana doesn't automatically make him a first round pick the following year, let alone a lottery pick. You can count on one hand the number of upperclassmen who are drafted in the 1st round of the NBA draft each year.Since you stated that he would be guaranteed $12-15 million dollars, the onus is on you to prove that is true.

I looked it up. You are right that the last pick of the first round, Kobe Brown, got $12 million guaranteed. The second pick of the second round, Jalen Pickett, got $6 million guaranteed. That is two picks after Brown. Jett Howard from Michigan was picked 11th and has $26 million guarenteed. If Ware came back and dominated he could potentially turn ~$10 million into ~$30 million playing one season of college basketball. The onus on me? Not likely…if you are a first rounder as a soph, you need to go.I looked it up. You are right that the last pick of the first round, Kobe Brown, got $12 million guaranteed. TJD dominated college basketball as an upperclassmen and still went 57th. Most mocks have Ware going 20-25th and think he has an outside chance at the lottery if he tests well at the combine. You do NOT come back as an upperclassmen for the sake of MAYBE only jumping 5-10 spots. Just asinine.I looked it up. And by staying another year Ware would be risking an injury that could end any chance of being drafted at all.TJD dominated college basketball as an upperclassmen and still went 57th. The only way Ware is back in Bloomington is if he receives terrible financial advice.
So you are saying he can’t improve his draft stock from his sophomore year to junior year because TJD was drafted 57th as a senior. I can’t think of a worse comparison. One thing I hope we can agree on though is that Woodson has done a great job developing him in one year, right?TJD dominated college basketball as an upperclassmen and still went 57th. please no more Galloway!!! I've never witnessed a coach's son clink so many free throws barely drawing iron.would make sense as a transfer point guard next season.
Davis
Galloway
Mgbako
Reneau
Ware
McNeely first off the bench.
Risking your draft stock by 5-10 spots when you're almost assuredly guaranteed to be a first round pick is moronic and a terrible business move. He's not coming back to Bloomington next year, deal with it.So you are saying he can’t improve his draft stock from his sophomore year to junior year because TJD was drafted 57th as a senior. He honestly probably hurts his stock by coming back.So you are saying he can’t improve his draft stock from his sophomore year to junior year because TJD was drafted 57th as a senior. Edey was projected as a mid second rounder last year, and improved his stock to near lottery from his junior to senior year. What’s your take on his decision?Risking your draft stock by 5-10 spots when you're almost assuredly guaranteed to be a first round pick is moronic and a terrible business move. Mid second round is debatable depending on NIL situation. His is probably good, though I haven't seen him doing any State Farm commercials.Edey was projected as a mid second rounder last year, and improved his stock to near lottery from his junior to senior year. What’s your take on his decision?
You don’t cash in a lottery jackpot to get a bigger jackpot. 🤦🏻I looked it up. You are right that the last pick of the first round, Kobe Brown, got $12 million guaranteed. It’s a weaker class this year and Edey wasn’t a 19 year old skilled player. Edey has improved no doubt but these two couldn’t be anymore different players. Ware has handles and can score from all three levels. The NBA likes 18-19 year olds. Especially with his skill set.Edey was projected as a mid second rounder last year, and improved his stock to near lottery from his junior to senior year. What’s your take on his decision?
He is listed at 27 on the ESPN draft board. He might not be a first rounder.Mid second round is debatable depending on NIL situation. His is probably good, though I haven't seen him doing any State Farm commercials.
First rounders should go. Zero upside to staying in college.
The strength of the draft class will also be another factor to assess for Ware. I’m not saying he will come back. I’m saying it can make sense. I’m also a fan of Indiana basketball, so I hope he does come back. It’s a weaker class this year and Edey wasn’t a 19 year old skilled player. He’s not. I’m 100% sure on it. It won’t make sense at all.The strength of the draft class will also be another factor to assess for Ware. I’m not saying he will come back. I’m saying it can make sense. I’m also a fan of Indiana basketball, so I hope he does come back.
If Edey was a projected first round pick after last season he would have left lol.Edey was projected as a mid second rounder last year, and improved his stock to near lottery from his junior to senior year. What’s your take on his decision?
Not all projected first round picks get drafted in the first round. You haven’t accepted the financial and career downside risk of slipping to the second round despite being presented with an example. If Edey was a projected first round pick after last season he would have left lol.
If you're a projected first round pick, you go......every time.
You say the NBA likes Ware more than Edey, so are you predicting that Ware will be drafted above Edey? It’s a weaker class this year and Edey wasn’t a 19 year old skilled player. Yes.You say the NBA likes Ware more than Edey, so are you predicting that Ware will be drafted above Edey?
Your odds of getting drafted in the first round as an upperclassmen significantly decrease, you understand that right. Not all projected first round picks get drafted in the first round. They definitely like the freshman and sophomore studs. Ware is. Hes shown lots of improvement in intensity and toughness recently.Your odds of getting drafted in the first round as an upperclassmen significantly decrease, you understand that right.
Number of upperclassmen drafted in 1st rd by year the last 5 drafts
2023: 5 (zero lottery)
2022: 6 (2 lottery)
2021: 5 (2 lottery)
2020: 4 (zero lottery)
2019: 6 (2 lottery)
Again, you'd have to be an absolute idiot to walk away from guaranteed money.

You are right about that. Woodson has done a great job in less than a year of working with him. They definitely like the freshman and sophomore studs. Ware is. Hes shown lots of improvement in intensity and toughness recently.
