Bob Heaton hit two huge shots that season. He hit the last second shot to beat Slab Jones’ New Mexico State team and last second shot to beat Sydney Moncrief’s Arkansas team in the tourney. Bird always had a tough time playing at New Mexico State because their fans would grab him when he went over the base line and would have to fight his way back on the court.
