Great size for a PG right now. Look forward to seeing him. Wish they were having a light scrimmage tonight, just to get to see these guys we've been talking about for months now!NBA scouts love him.
But you said he can’t play the two???NBA scouts love him.
No I didn’t. 🤦🏻 I said who will be the back up point. I also said they will run him and x like 2 point guards. He can play 1-3 and guard those spots too.But you said he can’t play the two???
Two primary ball handlers. Fine having them out there together, yet I don’t think they can both be on the bench together, unless we slide Trey into the role he had versus NU (which was basically a short handed/ emergency type situation). No I didn’t. 🤦🏻 I said who will be the back up point. He’s your backup PG. He will slide over and X will get a breather. X comes back in for him. They both start each half (and maybe finish depending on how it goes). Trey is not the one to be critical of, about anything related to the NW game last year!I hope Trey never plays PG again. In that game, IU only had 7 turnovers, but Trey had 5 of them. We can only imagine how many turnovers he would have had against a better opponent....or a better opponent's reserve backcourt.
Beat me to it.Trey is not the one to be critcal of about anything related to the NW game last year!
I didn't think CMW would, partly for that reason, partly to bring a freshman along more slowly, and partly because JHS, with his size and rep for D, could sub at the 1, 2 or 3 and might have allowed for more experimentation with lineups. Glad to be wrong! It won't surprise me if JHS does play the PG more when he's in with XJ as I think X's skills are more that of a 2 anyway and JHS seems to thrive on distributing the ball! You argued we wouldn’t start JHS and X
you are full of sh!t. The questions have been asked. X needs a breather and the point has the least depth. This is why AL has been working on the point per woody. You argued we wouldn’t start JHS and X
Yep, I'd love to have a 3rd PG on the roster! I'd not believed any 1 and done talk until I saw that tweet about what a scout said, so I thought we'd have JHS next year with Cupps! And of course we still may, but maybe we'll be looking for a PG in the portal!you are full of sh!t. The questions have been asked. X needs a breather and the point has the least depth. not going to lie ive been drinking all day and have no idea what you are trying to say, i will check back in tomm moring to see if i can figure it outIf that's true, then I guess we can't be critical of any player who makes curfew the night before a game. Or, we can choose: (1) to be critical of the dumbass decisions made by those suspended, (2) to be critical of the on the court performance of the majority of the team who did make curfew, and (3) to be critical of the lack of leadership of the entire team and coaching staff. I choose the latter, but you are welcome to ignore the NW data point. There are no free passes.

we had 3 PGs on the roster, so Trey should have never had to play PG, and then he had to, to the tune of 20+ minutes, and he scored 13. Single digit turnovers in a game when you were missing every PG on the roster??? Nothing to bang on Trey about in that moment. No, I'm critical of those who missed curfew, the performance of those who played, and the lack of leadership of the entire team and coaching staff.
He scored 13, and it’s not like we hung 100 on the ‘Cats (that 13 was a good chunk of our total scoring). Was he perfect? Of course not. But, when the game was over I was proud of his effort. IIRC coach W. also made some comments along the same lines.we had 3 PGs on the roster, so Trey should have never had to play PG, and then he had to, to the tune of 20+ minutes, and he scored 13. what was the line in “Hoosiers “ after a short handed loss? For those still out there at the end I’m proud of you?
we have 2 really good primary ball handlers, but one of them showed a tendency to go Ron Artest/Brad Davidson last year. We need him focused on staying out of foul trouble this year. I’m more concerned with that than another Evanston.
I don’t think defense was NUs biggest issue. They weren’t good defensively, but it’s not like they were a conference doormat either. No doubt, Trey was put in a difficult position during the NW game. So, if you want to ignore that Trey had 5 of the team's 7 turnovers against a shitty NW defense, then ignore that data point. I'm not banging on the guy. I'm just saying that based on his play throughout the entire season, I don't experience warm fuzzies when I envision Trey getting minutes at the 1.

I suspect fatigue was more responsible for the # of TOs than anything NU did.Yes, Northwestern had plenty of other issues too.

Yes and it’s not like he was healthy. He warriored up.I suspect fatigue was more responsible for the # of TOs than anything NU did.
I'm not ignoring it, nor am I ignoring the circumstances that required him, unannounced or expected to step into a role he never should have been put in or could have expected, so it's not a concern for me at all and I appreciate his effort. Heck, I remember thinking we could still pull that game out fairly late, and I think we were closer to winning because of Trey's efforts. I'm guessing XJ averaged more than 2 TO's a game and Trey better than 1, so most likely his PG play led to 2 more TOs than would have been "normal" for that position and minutes, and we had 7 as a team missing 2 starters and our starting and backup PG for that game? I missed the talk about about Trey playing minutes at the 1 to spell those guys. Where was that talked about?it would be a mistake to slide Trey over to the 1 when XJ and Fino need a breather.

So go with 3 guards plusTrace and Race? He’s your backup PG. He will slide over and X will get a breather. X comes back in for him. They both start each half (and maybe finish depending on how it goes). The thing I’m really pulling for though is Bates unseating Kopp as a starter.
The 3 and 1 positions are the question marks regarding who plays when/where. Good thing Woody has just enough versatility players. Injuries will have to be managed. Who knows who comes out of the wash.So go with 3 guards plusTrace and Race?
Who would guard the 3?
Bates or HoodSo go with 3 guards plusTrace and Race?
Who would guard the 3?
Bates is 6'5" and JHS listed at 6'6" and has a reputation as a good defender. That size should give us some flexibility on D.So go with 3 guards plusTrace and Race?
