Ja and the NBA

cmon dude, its hilarious when you let your own feelings cloud your judgement and reality. Romeo leaving wasn't a factor in their improved play one iota. Nor was Carsen Edwards as someone else tried to say. These guys didn't play enough to affect one way or another and the Cs had both around long enough that if they were a distraction, they'd have been gone long ago. You bagged on Phinisee for 3 years and then you met him and all of a sudden, he was a great guy and the best defender in the B10. If I were to point to anything for the Cs, and I don't really keep track of their roster in detail, but I'd guess it just took them a little time to "get" what their new coach was preaching and develop some confidence in it and each other.
I met Rob and I no longer bagged on him, best defender in the B1G? Im not dane fife.... I said he was serviceable as a back up. Rob should be nowhere near a starting PG for IU. Great heart tho, nice guy.

Romeo banged his teammates gf, not that great of a guy. Yes I let feelings get in the way with him, sue me :)

Romeo did not bang his teammate's girlfriend. JFC.

I can’t believe I was so adamant about Zion over Ja. Ja is gonna be a better version of Westbrook. This game is awesome. Tune in. KAT looks like he is gonna murder someone, and Memphis is so good at shooting. Like it looks like a video game.
Basketball just isn’t your thing bud. Can’t remember one prediction you’ve ever been right on. Are you really Rabjohns?

Plays bigger but both are listed at 6'9" and TJD is actually listed at 5 lbs heavier: 245 vs 240. I agree 100% that Horford can shoot out to the 3, but no one's signing Al Horford for his shooting.
kknot are you watching tonight's game Horford has 30, he is 35

Good game, was nice to see Gianis getting manhandled a bit at the end. Horford was the difference. Remember when RMK was considering trying to recruit his dad Tito? It was in A Season on the Brink.

I did and it was phenomenal. Good dude, I'd never really heard him talk much until after the game, but very humble. He said basically Giannis got him going by standing over him after that dunk. Still doesn't change what I said: Al has hung around because he's such a good and smart teammate who makes plays, not for his outside shot. He was motivated to a once in a career performance that will be the highlight of his career. I recognized he has shooting that TJD doesn't have, but TJD can still provide the intangibles that Al does and find a spot with a team because of it. I'm not going to look it up, but I bet TJD has better stats in college than Al at the same age (although owing to what a great teammate he was, wasn't AH on those UF championship teams?). I'm not saying they're equal, I'm saying TJD could emulate what Al does and provide enough value to a team that they would draft him and keep him around.

TJD is more athletic than Al. Al is a much more polished Bball player and uses his smarts, skills and positioning to succeed. Right now, TJD just leans on pure athleticism, his skills are nowhere near Al IMO.

Al Horford has been a very good NBA player for going on 15 years, I guess everyone who is 6 9 could emulate him and have a career in the NBA, my uncle is 6 4 and 250 he should have emulated Barkley his life would have turned out better.

Sure, your uncle is to Barkley what TJD is to Al Horford. OK. You should drink less at 9am!

Yeah, KC is just being a thick headed douche, but I think it's still reasonable to think that type of player/role, sans shooting, is TJD's path to the NBA. It's not really fair to compare TJD as a 3rd year college player to AH who's an experiened 15 year NBA veteran. But, if you look at their skills and stats in college, TJD matches up quite well I believe.

AH is just one of those team glue guys who makes every team he's on better. It would be great if TJD (or anyone!) could do that, I'm just saying he can find a role and spot by being that hustle guy who defends the rim, rebounds, sets screens, and makes plays and then see if he can also develop a shot and those smarts. AH with his smarts and team play is in a special class with guys like Danny Green, Andre Ikoudala, Robert Horry, etc... who seem to make every team they play on better.

I guess for the same reason that you stated that Lander was going to have a breakout season. basketball IQ? : )

Wasn't being a thick-headed douche, was just making a point that because they are similar size doesn't make them comparable. TJD is going to have a tough time finding a spot in the NBA for one simple reason he cant shoot, and until the big 10 tournament he couldn't finish inside vs talented bigs, those 3 days were far and away the most impressive stretch of basketball in his career. He has represented IU tremendously the last 3 years and I would love to see him make it, time will tell , the NBA scouts are generally pretty damn good at figuring out who's game will translate to the next level.

(TJD) Can’t or won’t shoot?

You know what they say about leading a horse to water.

Dont get Tamar and Lander twisted. I never saw Lander in HS and wanted him to play instead of Rob when Archie was here, he should have played more, I stand by that now. However, at no point this last year did I want or think he should be playing over X.

Neither could Horford. It was developed while in the NBA. 0 of 4 in NCAA. It took him 8 years to develop a 3pt shot.

Sounding like JA is out for remainder of playoffs. Granted likely only 1 maybe 2 games if he doesn't play

Traveling this week and have sat at the bar for dinner last 2 nights. The Dallas game last night was horrible, so tonight it was soccer with my man Luis as we talked Dodgers baseball and Raiders football while watching the PUE/AME match. Way more entertaining than watching the Suns destroy the Mavs less night. Less flopping too.

we don't need to hear about your exploits with a male prostitute while you're traveling. Remember VPM says: cover it up!

I don't know about that, but Luis wasn't afraid to tip the bottle when he poured. Admittedly a little fuzzy this morning, but nothing hurt and my pillow had no lingering traces of ether.

Celtics looking like a pretty tough out today. Juwan Morgan even got in for a minute today. Hard to believe Grant Williams and Romeo were basically the same pick in the draft, actually Romeo was picked one place ahead but didnt really matter as Celts had back to back picks.
